Laminate is a great, low cost option for many people. If you are in a cold area, the floor will be cold, hard and the space will offer an "echo". If you are looking for something that holds up well to moisture...laminate does not do very well.

Carpet is well known product. Many people looking to purchase houses will rip out carpet if it is installed. Carpet is a "personal" flooring choice. It is still accepted as a flooring option but it is well known to cause allergies = future resale can be compromised. Laminate through out the main areas of a home are also considered "cheaper" flooring and can impact the resale value of a home.

Is it ok to have laminate downstairs and carpet upstairs ? What about the stairs themselves ? Thanks for your help
