We've visited this Studio a few times and your work looks great! For the month of April, there is an 8x12 on display at the Boulder Whole Foods and we chose to do beetle kill on the ceiling.

Awesome!! I saw the Studio Shed going up at Whole Foods yesterday, so I'll stop in when I'm in town next. I love the look of beetle kill pine wood, so much so, I installed it as flooring in my home last month and am now doing all trim, casing and windows to match. BK pine has a wide variety of coloration to it including salmon, grey, blue, brown, black, and yellows. It's one of the most cheerfully bright woods I've installed in homes over the years and it's variations on grain patterns from plain to "out there" is one of it's distinctive features.

Would love to see the photos of your own interior! We're thinking of doing the soffits at our house with the beetle kill - LOVE it.

What did you do the joints between your tiles of plywood with?
Wow, it sounds like you did an amazing job on the interior as well as the exterior and everything inbetween. I'd love to see the complete project. Are their other pics?

The siding on the backyard artist studio is a cementitous board, or Hardiback board that stands up to weather, heat, frigid temps, etc, that are predominant throughout the year in Colorado.

@jasonbarwise - Hi Jason! Studio Shed custom manufactures all of our prefab units here in Colorado for shipping nationwide. The reveals between the HardiBoard siding (you referred to as plywood...it's actually a cement board) are simply aluminum-clad reveals. Our buildings are built from a weather proof zip-wall system (a weather-proof wall system) placed on 2x4 or 2x6 framing. The exterior is then clad in our cement board with the aluminum pieces added behind for aesthetic/design purposes. More info here: http://www.studio-shed.com/faqs/

Plywood was a word I picked up at the beginning of the comments, I believe.

Is that the same type of cement board that could be used for a substrate beneath a ceramic tile countertop? I've used those boards as the substrate for a shower before, if that's what it is. Thanks for the info.

When you get a chance could you email me? I want an addition....to my 2 story home. I would love all 3 levels, including the basement, but I know it would cost me. So any tips, things to look for in a contractor...ect from your perspective would be great!

Sorry about the late reply....did you ever start your project? If you still have questions, contact me again and I'd be more than happy to help. Jean-Pierre

Yes I did but I don't like what we did at all. When I have the money I may want to redo the outside. Can I send you a pic of my house?
