Waw thanks for the preview ! It is a good idea. I just don't know if I can afford replacing it right now. What about the structural column ? Should I paint it the same color as the wood above the garage to make it blend more ?

Leave the columns white to match the white window frames, paint the garage door the house color above it & paint the front door black.

Hi. Not sure if I'm illustrating Foci88's comment here, but I think this is good. I actually like the existing front door colour, but as you can see, black is good. I love your trim and siding colours -- bravo.

I like Manon's idea of a darker garage door. If you can't afford to replace it right now, why not just paint it a darker shade of what you have? Maybe even match that darker color and paint that column with it.

I would recommend you use a darker tone of the house color ( 3 shades darker) so it receeds - for the garage door , column left white and leave the front door wood , as it is a element in which visitors will be captured upon entry and get the warmth / upscale impact only a wood door can convey. If you want to add a color maybe consider a Sunbrella ( multi color stripe) fabric awning over the window to the left of door to humanize the facade.

I like Rina's choice because the garage door color makes the garage door recede. That way the front door becomes a focal point. Any other color draws attention to the garage door. If you like the look of a wood garage door, there are painters that can paint the door to appear like wood rather than replacing the door.

Yes, I think I'll go with a grey garage door in the same shade of the wood over it. For the front door, I am not shure yet. Right now it is sort of a burgundy color with a gold handle. I might replace the door all togheter. Adrian did you mean a wooden door tainted brown or a painted wooden door like in the second pic ? Thank you so much everybody !!

PS the inside of the house will be more of a modern/minimalist style.

What about a bright green or rust/orange door?

I also like the black door Rina shows in her PS of your home. The bright doors are for an alternate to the black door if you really want to draw attention to your entry.

I'd paint the garage door to match the gable and upstairs bay siding color. Then the white portion on each side of it, I'd paint to match the darker fascia board and roof trim color. To my eye, the upstairs windows are drawing the eye and it isn't where I'd want the eye to go. Consider using the dark trim color on those window frames so they recede. You want the focus on the front door where you can play with a color Maybe pick a pretty ceramic pot to set on the left of the door and match the door with its color. Black will be sophisticated, but if you want some playfulness go with a brighter or more intense color. Another area that is pulling the eye and throwing things off is the red tone of the fence to the right in the back yard. I'd want that stained or painted in that more gray trim color again. When budget allows and you get ambitious, I'd rethink the asphalt drive and increase the landscaping in front to add more color. The house stands well on its own, but flowering plantings and fall foliage would enhance it a lot.

Did you use a special software program for uploading an actual picture of your house and which then allowed you to play around with different door colors?

I really like the home just the way it looks....except I would paint the entire door and molding frame the same color so that it does not look choppy....Wrought iron staircase would look great!

Keep the column white. It is such a strone structural element, it helps draw eye to the door and balance away from garage door.

I like Rina's darker garage door to reduce it's presence.

Since the exterior lights are black, the front door amd future wrought iton railings would look great in black.

What the front entrance needs is a landing and walk at the bottom of the steps. Again, draws eye to front door and one doesn't end up walking on grass.
