What about painting a deep wall color above them to make the space feel more finished. I would be hesitant to add a bunch of accessories as the space may feel very visually clutered fast and it will just become something new to have to dust. Copper pots could be the answer if you really wanted to go that direction.

Lighting. Add lighting. If you have a trim above your cabinets, you can tuck in rope lighting which adds a nice mood to the room and creates it's own visual attractiveness. Anything (vases, pottery, etc) else will gather dust, look busy and clutter the space.

Completely agree, rope lighting would be a great solution!
