We recently installed new soapstone countertops and tile floors to update our galley kitchen, but kept the existing cabinets. Between the cabinets and the ceiling is a built in....non-functional space taker-upper? Anyhow I don't believe it can be removed but it is awful and I'm trying to figure out what to do with it. Currently it is wallpapered with some strange pink and brown expressionist pattern, which I slapped some grey paint on (prior to the remodel) just to see what grey would look like up there. By no means am I attached to the grey. The tile, as you can probably see in the photo, is white/off white with grey and warm beige tones. The adjacent dining room walls are a soft/neutral khaki color. Help! Do I strip the wallpaper and paint it? If so what color?
