Im no pro but year-around color in the northeast-ish region is tough. I live in NC and right now everything out of my window is evergreen or brown and bald. Anything that flowers in the Spring or changes colors in the Fall is likely to shed. You might consider some shrubs that green all year but your reds, whites, violets, and yellows aren't likely to stay; at least nothing I've found..

Important are hardscape.The stair don't match fluid line the driveway,is eyesore.If you like my design,

Thanks for the suggestions. This is the front of the house, so adding another deck isn't a possibility.

I would consider reworking the entrance to the front door. Look at moving the steps to the other opening where the railing is. That would help the flow to the front door. I would then use out cropping of natural stone to retain the hillside. Then install some shorter flowering plants below and some evergreens in back for a nice Backdrop. That should help soften the front entrance.

If you're in Virginia and can grow Crape Myrtles you can probably also get some varieties of Nandina ( dwarf variety ) that has evergreen foilage with bright red and burgundy winter color and beautiful red berries. For groundcover , giant Ajuga would be evergreen and has a beautiful blue flower in the Sprjing. I find the evergreen on the right very distracting and would replace it with a small ornamental tree that is columnar in shape - a Cornelian Cherry Dogwood, for instance , which has early blooming yellow flowers. I always go for flowers in the front of a house and I know your crepe mrytle blooms but would also suggest bulbs for that spring flowering.

My first reminder to my clients when selecting plant materials is to select the foliage first. If you want evergreen maybe try something like Andromeda (Pieris). Choose one with a nice foliage color in the spring and a floral display to follow. Maybe add some winter / early blooming heathers (Erica). Then you could put in some Iris or even lower ground coverings. Maybe a small tree for some structure in the space a bit of cooling in August.
REMEMBER: Foliage is there far longer than flowers. Good Luck
