Where is the pitcher pump from? Love, love the sand box!!! Is it lined? Can you give details on how to build? Lovely project!

The pump is a standard agricultural supply hand-pump. It can be plumbed to a hose or electric pump to be a stand-alone water feature, or connected to a reservoir to be a working hand-pump.

Sandbox is lined with filter fabric over a bed of gravel for drainage. Stones are mortared together to keep sand from dribbling out (we rubbed sand over the wet mortar to hide the joints). The water flows around the sandbox in a concrete spillway that gives space for shallow water play.

Thank you so much for all the info!!! My husband and I are redoing our yard and wanting to make a fun space for our boys and think this is just a wonderful design and ties in beautifully with any landscape. Since we are learning DIY people attempting a lot of this on our own would you mind telling us a bit more about the concrete surrounding the sandbox? Does it go all the way around? How was it poured and any more details that might help us newbies. Thank you for all your advice. Beautiful project and so fun for the parents and kids!

It is a lot of fun! Just a small amount of concrete, mixed from bags and poured between the pre-set stones. Only goes maybe 1/3 of the way around. I think you could have a lot of fun with this part, making it integrate into the landscape. Also, when selecting stones for the sides, think about some wide flat ones for the kids to sit on.

Any recommendations on the stone used? Size? We are going to make this happen for our boys :). Thank you!!!
