We are applying for planning permission to extend an old house, and I have a question about the lighting in our new living room. It is going to have three sections to the ceiling, split by two beams. The centre of the first two sections will be in line, but the centre of the third section will be off centre.
I have attached the plan of the ground floor so you can see. The first beam meets the centre of the chimney; the second beam is where the old wall used to be in the section at the back of the room.
I've attached a photo showing a bit of the ceiling - the beams are visible.
My question is, how can we instal pendant lights that won't look odd? We can't put them in line with each other... and I want the room to look cohesive... and I don't know if I am brave enough to not have any ceiling lights and only use lamps and sconces...
We are doing up this house on a very tight budget, so although I would love an Arco floor lamp, in reality our lighting will be customised Ikea or eBay finds!
