I don't often like the idea of painting exterior brick, but in this case I think it's a good idea. There is a vertical 2 story seam to the left of the tree, and the brick to the left of that looks like a slightly different color. Maybe the garage was an addition? Or they just wanted more brick? Anyway, paint would camouflage that difference. Then I would work on unifying the windows. The house must have redeeming features inside that make you love It... You just have to decide if the changes to the exterior are worth it to you.

Continue the siding across the top of the brick on the second floor. This would cover over the octagon window on the second floor. Then White wash the brick so that it is lighter but not painted solid. Here you can work with the color of whitewash to tone down the red.
Consider replacing the windows especially two large windows on the first floor with a consistent style. Add shutters to the lower replaced windows. If you can't replace the windows, paint the trim black or charcoal to minimize their impact but don't add shutters to them. Then paint the door a contrasting color.

Seeing what might be done with colour to get unity into those windows -- basically, de-stressing them by painting the top ones in the same colour as the siding, the bottom ones in a similar, darker colour. Wood for the garage and front doors, and the shutters -- I tried removing them but I wouldn't unless I could enlarge the windows (and, as Dar Eckert says, then making them consistent in style with the ones below. The two circles just further confuse the issue, so I've painted the top one out and covered the doorside one with a plaque for the street number and a post box. The darker siding colour does of course darken the facade, but blends better with the brick.

That is kind of the problem. It is so plain vanilla inside and needs lots of work. But this market is very tight.... You guys have been great!!!!!!!!!!1

Let us take "tight market" and everything else out. FOCUS on your family's needs, then wants.... Do not rush yourselves. I know it is a hard thing to do, but, get online and scope out everything... then narrow it down to a few. Make it a fun project. It took us at least three years to find the property we are on... I still cried the day my husband insisted on making the offer...

Adding properly fitted shutters to your home like Dar Eckert recommended. Currently, the shutters on your home are too small for your windows. Each shutter should measure out to be half the size of the window.

Red brick and white wood can be a very classic Georgian look. Paint the garage door to match the brick or a mid tone charcoal grey.black or dark grey shutters would add more classical style. You could add shutter to other windows. Then add landscaping details. A splash of color on the front door would brighten it.

While maybe not placed well, I like those round windows.

Great - congratulations!! I was going to suggest a short roof from one white gable to the other extending over the garage . . . and change the picture windows to multi-paned windows. Looks like you already have the solution! Good for you!!

The tree blocks the front of the house. Takes focus off the house. Your picture for an example is really nice. Look for a picture example for landscaping the front.
