Some type of trowled cement technique....it resembles venetian plaster.

how does cement hold up against water/moisture absorption? is there a some sort of sealant applied into the mixture or on the surface to prevent future mold buildup?

More and more customers are using our plasters for their humid homes in Hawaii, Florida, Bermuda, etc. Lime happens to be very absorbant of humidity. It kills mold, fungus and mildew on contact because of the high Ph of lime and it since it doens’t like to stay wet, the stuff won’t grow on it. I got this from Varsi Plaster and Stucco web site. I been researching this. Seems like it will be a good product. Before I decide to install it I will do a great deal more of research. Best of luck to you

Looks like a cement with a paint and sealant. But, I just found this deco panel wall product that fooled me on line.'Howevr with all the building I am going with concrete, trowled', and finished,very nice.

Could be pool plaster. Currently researching myself on what moisture & hygienic management is like with that material.

How to does one upkeep cement on a day to day basis? I hear it is very porous; does sealing it still require constant monitoring? ie more work than tiles?

If you are thinking of using a product, call the design firm, I am sure they will help you.
And if you need to pay a one hour fee of 150.00 you will have the following
a, peace of mind when you build that you built it correctly by the correct people and you will not have problem, b, the architects can help you with their shower drain if they did a 0 floor entry uoy will need a linear shower drain, c, they have already worked with the product someone lives with it and there are high fives of tiles on the table. You and I have no idea if this was a planned event or gee we have more can we do this and from there it grew. So, I would call them uo and they do not have to be near to speak with you.
I work with clients 1200 miles away at times, a friend works Calf. NY which almost feels like a day trip now with China so busy .

I live in Iowa where the older houses like mine settle and floors can get uneven. Mine is pretty good so far but there are cracks in the walls in places. Would there be a danger of a plaster tub (not on ground level) cracking as the house settles?

This Venetian Plaster looks very similiar to the "cretestone" plaster we do in South-Africa. Beautiful, but porous in showers. It's basically cement mixed with either yellow or green type of acid. Effect really looks stunning!
