You need to get a decent sized area rug with some color and pattern to go under the chairs and coffee table.

The reason you're struggling with the wall is because it needs something for the eye to focus on to give the room warmth, charm and personality. My preference are photos or painting that have some bright colors in them. Here are a few examples:

Ground the space with a rug. Add some art on the wall. I think you need more seating. Maybe a sofa. It almost looks like an office or waiting room. Is there other furniture going in this room? You can keep the room black and white. I would add at least two other colors to liven it up. Use color in some accessories. It needs to feel inviting.

Are you having other furniture? I would place an end table between the two chairs. Add a rectangle art or two art pieces not to be wider than the width of the chairs and table.

Choosing the number of art pieces is not as important as having them fit 'between' the items below the art.

It's a matter of preference most of the time. Because of the two chairs and possible end table between, I would choose a large rectangle to keep it a simpler visual.

Hey Cassie, inexpensive art can be options for clients also. Many clients have priorities for how their budget will be used.

I think anyone has their own taste and style for art. It'a personal choice that is difficult to choose for a client unless you really get to know them. You can check out many websites to answer your question as all of us will have to take time doing. We only suggest options.

Have you considered an oversized, geometrically shaped mirror - maybe over wall paper?

Thank you for posting the pic. Is it just open space opposite the chairs and a blank wall with the entry door? Any windows on that wall? Is that a table showing on the right of this pic, or a counter between living room and kitchen? My first thoughts are that those chairs must be pulled away from the wall and angled in some way, and somehow you need to find space for more seating. Could you angle them towards each other against the room divider, or is that a cupboard you need access to? Then you could turn the table 90 degrees, and place other seating facing the chairs.

I'm liking the idea of picking up on colour from the green glass on the table, but I'm not sure how yet. I have a busy day ahead but I hope to check in later.

Love love love the art deco style table. So...I'm thinking working with your colors. You made it a bit hard integrating the wood and black tones a bit of a balancing act, but not impossible. Your home is stunning.

I hate to cover that gorgeous floor but I do think you need a small statement rug. Something simple over the chairs perhaps a floor vase and art to the right.

I prefer a landscape oriented picture over a couch, but that's just my preference. You need to go with photos or paintings that you will enjoy looking at everyday. I love the outdoors which is why I'm drawn to photos of landscapes and the like. Find ones that you are drawn to, and will make you happy every time you look at them. And if you have some pictures you've taken that you love, have them blown up and framed. I did that years with one of my favorite canyon where I hiked growing up, and every time I see it, it makes me happy. That's what you want your artwork to involve--feelings of happiness.
