It is a shade brighter than the wall. Any color ideas on the wall? Carpet is taupe.

The sectional is a bit large for the space. May we see the other side of the room?

I truly think this can all work if the blues can separated a bit in the room......right now they are together. Is it possible to turn the sectional so the back is to that entry we can see? It would face the window nicely then, too, and the blue would be spread around the room.

Sectional needs more pillows...maybe some yellow to go with the art, too?

I think that one of the main problems is the carpet. Can you get a cream area rug for the seating area?

Okay ... back to the question. I advise you to paint the blue accent wall (the same colour as the rest). The sofa is your statement, so dress it up with some cushions, etc. You've got a lovely room -- it looks very welcoming.

I might experiment (by which I mean paint big pieces of posterboard and stick them up on the wall to see how it looks in the lighting) with keeping the accent wall different, but making it more like the others. Maybe a couple of shades darker than the other walls? It does have a lovely display of artwork and I like the idea of subtly highlighting that, but the blues being so close but not quite matching would drive me nutty. With the blue sectional and a less blue feature wall, you'd have the sectional to look at, and then when your eye got overwhelmed with blue the feature wall would be an inviting place for the eyes to be drawn to that was still more restful than the sectional. Basically, it would encourage your eyes to move around the room, I feel.

To tag along with @piratefoxy's idea you might try sampling a color that matches the (grey?) bookcase from the other side of the room?

I agree w removing the accent wall, and would also remove all the furniture against it, placing the sofa closer to the wall, instead. If you don't need a side table near the doorway for the couch, then look for smaller wall hung speakers.
I agree with patterned cushions for the couch. I think I am seeing burgandy chairs, and if so, then suggest bringing that colour over to the sofa, and using the blue cushions on the chairs. You may find cushions you like better than the florals for this. I would also trade out the artwork that has huge doses of royal blue ( they are all on the blue wall), in favour of fewer pieces that compliment, rather than match.

Killian - what great lines and I like the way the focal point wall in a deep tone sets off the art. Let's talk about the wall you want to consider repainting . . I'm guessing it matches the valance fabric more or less . . . I think if it had a different shade value than the sofa it would be fine that it was a different tone, but since they are both saturated and deep, it is more noticeable. You could try one coat a bit more purply tone to pick up the sofa is one choice. Test ben moores starry night blue . .. just one layer should hit all the right notes there .. . but I think you would be happier if you had contrast to the sofa - and that means try a gray - it is neutral, it resonates with the casework in the room and plays off the stone grout in the chimney far opposite. You could come back up to the midtones like bm delray gray http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/delraygray It should be dark enough to have great contrast with the art but not blend into the sofa - rock gray is another good one to test . . might play off the stone grout better next door / the black tables . . I like the accent wall here - it makes sense behind the gallery, I can see how terrific the navy was before you got the sofa. This sofa is a cobalt blue . . wonderful

With the deep red chairs (love the way they hold their own with the saturated blue) and the wood tones / warm neutral stone beyond, I don't think adding yellow is where I'd go - love it in the art but in the fabrics, I think layering more warm neutrals (camel/ rattan) mixed with off-white would be wonderful. Consider a throw to break up the expanse of blue. With summer coming - you might like to slipcover the red chairs with a bone and charcoal tattersall just to break up all the leather. Graphic buff and tan pillows, off white cable knit cotton throws . .
let the blue guy be the start, with more blue in art and accessories and let everything else be a value of cream or gray. .

It is a lovely room with a lifetime of collected beautiful things. You might go through with some craft paint in a platinum tone that picks up both the silver and the gold of your lamp / sculpture, etc. and unify all the metal toned frames on the walls. Edit what is on the open shelves and console for summer and then switch at the season. The square shade is so great, I want the floor lamp to have one too. Finally, now that you have a sectional, what about using the console that is on the art wall as a sofa table people can use? That will give you more room to expand your gallery there - which I admire.

I like the idea of trying the bookshelf color. Also picking up more colors from the artwork, like the yellow, in throw pillows. I think a printed fabric with some blue might look nice on the chairs, to help tie the seating area together. Or put something blue like a larger item of blue glass on the shelf. Nothing too overwhelming, just to echo the blue in the room on that side and in that corner a bit more.

A lot has been said already and the blue is just a tad overboard. I would let the sofa, art and a few accessories carry the blue. Is the shade blue too? Pick up some of the art colors and the red chair tones in new pillows for the sectional. The art and photo on the chair end of the space seem off with what is going on at the blue end. Looks like the family room next door might be a better spot for those so the ones on the blue end can carry the space with a lighter wall behind them.

Assuming you don't want to return the sofa, as everyone else has suggested, the blue wall is the easiest to change. I think gray might make it too cold in your room. I would pick a warmer color than gray. The colors in your fireplace stones might give you a clue into what will tie in the whole space together. Either way, definitely test some color patches before diving into a new color. Enjoy decorating! Not everyone can go as bold as you :)

Yes yes yes, I would advise to paint the blue wall since you have such a fabulous sectional AND blue curtains to boot. I like the idea of pulling yellow accents from the painting to the couch with some pillows.

I'd get rid of that blue wall as well as the blue curtain valance. A warm stone color staying neutral for the walls would be lovely. Think of the sofa as a man's necktie. Let the suit itself be on the quiet side. I like the stone in the fireplace as someone else suggested. You could play off of that.

Edithsmom, yes, you're the only one. It's absolutely wrong and too big and was an unfortunate choice. And there's an ottoman too! That small room can't support its enormity, and it's now the third major blue thing in the room. Yikes!

There is a common theme in these dilemmas--I bought a ginormous couch and stuffed it into my little room with all my precious nicknacks (is that one of those little wooden butler dudes in the corner??), and there's another big-ass sitting room right next door! Leather on the couch, leather on the ottoman, leather on the club chairs...geez!

The big-ass sofa makers are laughing all the way to the bank. So are the storage facilities being paid to store the rest of people's crap! God, I love this site. It's fascinating!

Love the sectional and the wall...but lacking complimentary colour. Yellow or gold would work as others suggested.

Too much going on with ottoman and coffee table.... Lose one.

Knick knacks in back corner behind sofa should go...lamp can stay and accent table but clear out the others.

I think your space is lovely and you are doing a great job so far -- just needs a few tweaks. I think that "less is more" is true for this case. I don't mind the blue wall as much as I think you have too much of a good thing -- I think the huge piece of art would be enough or even a grouping of the smaller pieces behind the sofa. There is just too much art and knick knacks in the room. The sectional seems modern or transitional, and some of the knick knacks seem more "country" to me (the flowers, speakers and whatever is on the sofa table). I also think you should bring the chair color over onto the sofa with throw pillows or a throw and put the blue pillows on the reddish chairs. I also agree that you could either use the ottoman as a coffee table with a tray on top or keep the coffee table you have now and lose the ottoman. It makes it seem crowded to have both there. I do like the idea of an area rug to bring in some color and pattern. Just some ideas to consider....

Seriously, it is a stunner, and being a long-time blue lover and leather lover, I can tell you it does not overpower your room; in fact, it MAKES your room (which, I'm sure is what you wanted when you bought it, and you succeeded).

I think both libradesigneye and soto01 have good advice for you -- left up to me, I'd have MORE blues in your beautiful room :)

I would lose the blue valance, get rid of the brass accessories (lamp, clock) and get a more modern lamp in a silver-y finish, (brushed nickel?) The sectional looks contemporary (and is gorgeous) but everything else appears more traditional.

I suggested gray as the accent wall because it was neutral and would work well with the tan. You can go to a deeper shade of tan but I don't think it will work as well. Gray is neutral and plays well with tan adjacent. I really like what the deep accent does to the gallery, so I wanted to keep it. I don't see bright yellow with tan at all but I can see some of the yellower tans working well here - (where i say rattan, etc.) One thing you can count on here is lots of different opinions to consider . . it is your room and you will find the right answer for you.

There is a HUGE range of gray available these days - I'm willing to bet it'd be possible to find a warm gray that would go nicely with the existing color on the other walls and provide a nice backdrop to the lovely blue leather and your artwork. If you have any of the paint from the other walls left, paint a swatch of it or pick up a paint card of that color and take that with you when shopping for sample pots of gray to try out at home. That way you can at least rule out anything that would require repainting the entire space.

I do like the suggestion of using the ottoman as a coffee table with a nice tray on it. I might put a cloth on the tray that picks up the red from the chairs and some of the tan and other colors in the room.

I personally think there is way too much going on in the room. Too many art pieces on the wall (I would remove the smaller ones surrounding the large piece as well as the art piece on the beige wall), too many accessory pieces in the room such as the vase sitting in the corner on what looks like a speaker, and scale down some of the pieces on the side table and coffee tables. I am also in agreement with PirateFoxy that there is a huge range of gray available these days including some gorgeous jewel toned silvers which I would consider.

Love your room! I would do dark taupe on the blue wall. I would use lime green or yellow for the pillows.
