I like the backsplash to be the same material as the counter. In your case, that would cost a lot more than tile, but I think it is a classier look. It gets hard to coordinate counter/backsplash/floor/cupboards and then add anything else to it. Maybe an accent over the stove - but it looks like you've got stainless there, which is great.

How about mirrors? I used them and loved the enhanced light and easy cleaning.

Christy, who makes the metallic mosaic backsplash (upper right) you recommended?

How about a beautiful linear mosaic that includes both stone and glass. This works well in the cooktop area, where you're apt to get cooking/frying splashes. They are easily hidden, thus you can deal with them after the dinner party rather than stressing about how they look while the guests are there to see them. I also think that with the style and color of your cabinets, something that's pale but with a punch would be beautiful.

Alex ... kudos to you for wanting something other than white subway tiles! Here are some designs created with tumbled marble. Tempered glass might be another alternative ...

Hi jloleary I would be glad to share.I don't know where you live but I am in Toronto,Ontario and I bought the tiles at Rivalda Ceramic Tiles Inc. 8305 Jane St. Concord,Ont ,905-738-7100, Fax:905-761-1200.
There order number for this tile is WL-MO33. I included all this in case you live here but if not you may be able to google them as they might have other stores in the States or wherever. I hope this helps and you find the tiles or something just as great, good luck

Any glass tile in tone of gray will do, or you can go Blue Green to pop it up

We have new Caledonia granite counters, white cabinets & dark stained wood floor..we just had "allen roth glacier" tile installed found it at Lowes bought several diff. samples but glacier looked best in our opinion, brought it home & loved the accents of silver/gray/white etc. hope it helps you out (the pic of "allen roth glacier" online does not look quite like it does in real life.

What about mirrored backsplash? That's what i did and I LOVE the result: the light, the suddlety and very inexpensive.

How about one of these from Akdo? I was in their showroom recently and they have amazing displays and you can custom anything.

how about 4"square tiles diagonally laid with a narrow horizontal and vertical edging

White subway tile would look great in this kitchen, even with a tint of color like gray or green, or a carrera marble look tile.

Have you seen Venetian plaster, it's amazing. My son has it for his slash backs and it is fab to look at and easy to clean as it has no grout. And comes in any colour.

Break it up with glass or medalians.

Your kitchen is beautiful! I may be late with this but here's a pic of our kitchen with Chinese White Marble subway tiles (4"x8") with an inset above the cooktop which is comprised of blues, greys, and white. Inset is called Manhattan. btw, these subway tiles were installed with no grout.

I certainly understand the concern that a colorful backsplash will dominate the kitchen, but I really love some of the suggestions coming out here! The are glass tiles from glazzio. They interlock creating really pretty pattern. They come in quite a few colors. I think it would great in your kitchen.

Personally, I think a colored backsplash would complement the look. All white (or all white & gray) kitchens can sometimes look too stark.

We remodeled our kitchen last year with high gloss white cabinets and Organic White Caesarstone counters. I chose a glass mosaic tile for the backsplash. The color is a deep blue, but as the tile is iridescent, it also shows as green, violet, gold, depending on how the light hits it. Sorry, no photo has it doesn't photograph well - it just looks black in photos.

Don't be afraid of color! As long as you don't go TOO wild, it won't overshadow the white - it will enhance it.

Try Stone and Pewter Accents, love their glass tiles. Here is a great collection called Rainbow, Pisces...

I just have mosaic made up of marble, clear and frosted glass. Sleek, easy to clean and it gives many tones in all lights.

I'd really like to know where to find the second backsplash idea on the left (the grey assorted comb) from the first Thos Baker post. I'm nor sure if it would be too much with my white cabinets and countertop

You need to bring samples home and try in your light. To really see true color.
