Thoughts on the new Bosch Benchmark appliances
I am willing to drive to Atlanta or Nashville to see them. Any advise and/or thoughts on the Bosch line would be greatly appreciated.

Here is my experience with a Bosch refrigerator:
Bosch 800 Series B26FT70SNS /04 25.9 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator has issues and failures. The first issue is the crushed ice maker. It does not crush all the ice as my old GE unit did (or any other brand I have ever used) . The Bosch unit only breaks some ice cubes in half, others it only will chip a corner off and only a few seem to come out mostly crushed. The lack of ice crushing has been confirmed by Bosch as “normal” for this unit. If you like fully crushed ice and not almost complete ice cubes mixed in with it, I would not recommend this refrigerator.
The next two problems are more serious. Firstly, after swapping out the ice maker with a new unit to try to solve what we now know to be an unsolvable problem, the new ice maker unit has failed completely; it no longer makes ice and of course it is now out of warranty. I wrote an e-mail to the Bosch representatives who helped me the first time with this problem however they did not respond to my e-mail. The second failure is much more critical. The refrigerator intermittently stops working! Occasionally, the Bosch Series B26FT70SNS stops getting cold! That’s all the darn thing needs to do and it fails doing it! I’ll come home to a puddle of water on the floor, the food in the freezer is thawed out and the refrigerator is warm! After cycling the power by turning off the circuit breaker sometimes it will start working, and sometimes it starts again by itself. I lost food and had to clean up a mess.
I wrote another e-mail to the Bosch representatives about the ice maker and cooling failure, but again they did not respond to either of my e-mails. Because the Bosch representatives have been unresponsive on these last two problems it tells me that they do not want to get involved with defective products or product problems.
Because I went with all BOSCH products in my new kitchen (Double oven, cooktop, range hood, dishwasher, warming draw, refrigerator) I am now terrified as to which product may fail next and the difficulty in communicating with factory representatives. I regret my decision of selecting all BOSCH appliances. As of this posting I have not heard back from Bosh.
Based on my experience with multiple failures of my Bosch 800 Series B26FT70SNS /04 25.9 cu. ft. French Door refrigerator I cannot recommend purchasing this unit.

The Bosch French Door refrigerator is made by Kitchen Aid and is identical to the Kitchen Aid fridge which is also the Jenn Air refrigerator. It is the only Bosch appliance not made by Bosch. We are not getting the Bosch because it is not Energy Star certified and our county requires Energy Star refrigerators in all kitchen remodels. Instead we may get the JennAir which is the identical unit and is Energy Star certified.

To Benchmark or not to Benchmark, that is the question:
I am deciding between a Bosch Benchmark or 800 30" induction cooktop, and a Benchmark vs. 800 wall oven.
The flexible burner feature on the cooktop looks wonderful, but my husband is concerned about a comment that water on the cooktop prevents the sensor from detecting if there's a pan on the burner? (And why wouldn't I simply wipe a burner before turning it on? Seems like a non-issue to me, but I promised him I'd ask....)
The side swing door on the oven has me almost persuaded. Any feedback?
Thanks in advance....

@Larry Hill: what did you decide?
@kellyproctor: would love to know how the appliances have been working!
Thanks in advance.

I've been using my Bosch Benchmark 36" induction cooktop, side-opening wall oven and the hood for about a month now. I LOVE them! I'm still getting used to the required settings for different kinds of cooking (never used induction before) on the cooktop, but it's very easy to learn. Yes, it's much faster so I have to prep ahead...or work faster if I'm chopping, etc. while things are on the cooktop. It's easy (super easy!) to clean and I haven't noticed any issues with the cooktop sensing the pan or the type of pan. I still need to buy/find a rectangle sized pan for pancakes and quesadillas, so I can't speak to the sensor issue on the flexible burner yet. But I have used 3 pots and once, and didn't have any issues. Water boiled over from the super boost-9 (like I said, the speed takes some getting used to) and all I did was wipe it up while it continued to cook. The number never turned off (the number will flash on and off if you lift the pot for a moment, then turn back to steady when you return the pot) or an "H" which is what happens when you turn the cooktop off so that you know there was recently a hot pot there.
The side-opening oven door and the pull-out rack make things so nice and easy! The controls are easy to use and understand and they react instantly to a light touch of the finger. Also, because it's very simple and "knob-less", it's very easy to clean. I'm not sure why (electrical issue?) but when I first had the oven installed, it gave an error reading and beeping. I tried turning off the power (from the electrical panel) several times and waiting before turning it back on...but no luck for at least 10 times. Finally after a long vacation weekend, when my appliance store guy was in the process of doing a 3 way phone conversation with Bosch and me, I once again powered things back on. And for some odd reason, it turned on as it should!! I haven't had any problems since...and again, LOVE the oven. It cooks evenly, fast (I like the "FAST PRE-HEAT"), and pretty to look at.
The hood is quiet, strong and pretty!
I have 3 boys (high school, middle and elementary) so "easy to clean" and easy to use is key. But I also love the way they work. I'm just a mom (not a professional cook), but I DO cook a lot and bake a lot because it's healthier, easier on the wallet, and...did I mention I have 3 VERY big eaters...actually 5 including my husband and me!
If anybody has specific questions...let me know. - Kelly - 11 years ago
Thank you so much for your detailed review! The appliances sound wonderful. I look forward to reading more about the Benchmark appliances, and I'm even more excited about ordering my own. Thanks again.
kellyproctor, how is the noise level? Is the cooling fan sound annoying? Is the convection fan noisy?
Kelly,
Thanks for the awesome reviews. What type of hood did you purchase. I know with induction cooktops the need for ventilation is minimal.
Kellyproctor, Ive got a question about your bosch sides wing oven - does to door open beyond 90 degrees? (i.e. does it open back).
Thanks,
@ Tom Lieb - the noise level is difficult to describe, since I know everyone has a different/personal level of tolerance. The cooling fan does not bother me, though there is definitely a fan sound. I believe the noise level is about the same for the cooling fan and the convection fan. I bake a lot, and it doesn't seem to bother those who are watching TV or hanging out (only 15'x21' great room/kitchen area).
@ Isahly - it's the Benchmark hood...(HCG56651UC) I bought it because I liked the look and power of the hood. Plus, with the Bosch hood/oven/stove combo, i qualified for the 10% Bosch rebate.
@3ilovepie - unfortunately I can't tell you the MAX the door can open, because I have it installed counter height, but perpendicular to wall. But yes, it does open beyond 90 degrees. (There's 6" between the oven and the wall and so I can open my door to about 100 degrees - it's the wall, not the door itself that limits the opening) I looked through my paperwork to see if there's a "max" and the only thing I noticed was that in the installation/side door alignment procedure it says to "open the door to approximately 135 degrees"... - 11 years ago
Great posts, Ty! Deciding between Benchmark 36 inch induction, side open oven and Wolf induction and ESeries oven. Welcome your thoughts! Wolf appears to have strong installation andservice support. Not sure if Bosch does.

@slcnovak
yes, still very happy. Everything is working great and I still love the easy-to-clean induction cook-top. I (or my older boys) bake and/or cook every day.

Funny, I have several clients who bought all Bosch kitchen appliances on their own and none of them are happy. As it happens I bought a new-build condo and while I specified everything else in the interior, the appliances offered were all Bosch. I replaced the washer and dryer immediately to what I preferred (just a personal preference). What I'm finding, which correlates with the experiences of these several customers, is that when there is an issue with one of their appliances under warranty, Bosch does not have a 'consumer friendly' response. Too many stories of not even attempting to solve problems of appliances under warranty. "wait and see" has been their rather standard response many times, and it has happened to me as well, (refrigerator/freezer). I've not had this with other top brands, at least to this degree. Bosch 'nixed' the assessment of the electricians and their own tech, and said... "wait and see" - this was after 5 months of the unit having intermittent issues. This was after I lost almost the entire Thanksgiving dinner (freezer just quit). Their tech got back to me (after saying he was ordering new 'boards' for it) to tell me that Bosch "would like to wait and see". ??? Not spec'ing Bosch, I'll stick with the other top mfgrs. I normally spec. Have never had an issue with Subzero/Wolf. But for those of you who are happy with your Bosch appliances, I'm glad they have worked well for you.

Don't buy Bosch. I purchased a Bosch oven and microwave/convection oven. The microwave/convection oven stopped working after 5yrs. Shortly after the first year, after the warranty period, the microwave/convection oven needed repairs at the tune of over $200. I am very disappointed in this product.
The microwave/convection oven was not heavily use. We have 2 adults in our household so it wasn't like it was being used on a continuous basis.

My Bosch Benchmark range and oven (HGIP054UC) has been quite the disappointing purchase. Bosch's own technicians have been unable to fix the problem for the last 2 1/2 months. I will never buy another Bosch range/oven again.
The oven worked well for about 3 months with light use (total of 6 or 7 times, and not even at high temperatures). Then one day, the oven and the control panel shut off while preheating the oven. I slid the stove/oven away from the wall to see if there was a loose connection from the installation, but there was nothing obviously loose. Interestingly, while sliding the oven away from the wall, the control panel turned back on.
I pushed the oven back against the wall, and the next time I used the oven, it shut off again, along with the control panel.
The motherboard has since been replaced, but didn't fix the issue. The entire front panel (control panel included) has been replaced, and the issue still isn't fixed. Bosch's last chance to fix (or replace) my oven is coming up in a few weeks. So far, I've not been able to host Thanksgiving at my house. Christmas dinner will also be not at my house. And all because of Bosch...
Bosch?...never again.
Chriswillard13, that is horrible. What is infuriating is a poor response when it goes wrong. Don't these manufacturers realize that is either what gets or looses clients and influences our purchase decisions? BTW, if you need a temporary unit, the $100 single induction burner with cast iron pan from costco.com works very well! I got one to try out induction. Good luck! Happy Christmas, may Bosch resolve this before the holiday.

Anyone have any more experience with a 36" Benchmark Induction Cooktop and/or side open Benchmark oven? Would love to hear from some more owners.
I have had a 30" Benchmark slide-in induction stove since May and have no complaints about it whatsoever. I would probably have preferred one of those removable knobs that you keep in a drawer until it's time to turn on the stove, rather than the touch controls, but that is a minor quibble. I got a Bosch stove, fridge and dishwasher--absolutely pleased with all of them!!
We just finished our kitchen remodel and I have been using the 36" Benchmark Induction Cooktop for a few weeks. I am quite happy with it. It is ridiculously easy to clean and at least as responsive as the gas stoves I have had in the past. An unexpected negative was that my daughters can hear a high-pitched ring (out of my range) with one of my skillets that is made for induction cooktops. I was not able to replicate their experience later, but they both independently complained about the noise, then ran from the kitchen, ears covered.
We also installed the Bosch 500 series oven which I have used about 10 times in the past 3 weeks, and it is wonderful - except the timer sucks, the numbers keep running up when you take your finger off making it very difficult to set the darn thing. The Benchmark 800 microwave keypad has not worked since installation. We have waited since NOVEMBER 23 for a technician. The first one came and left without calling when he couldn't get past our gate. Now I am waiting to hear when my next appointment will be.
Fingers crossed that service calls will be infrequent in the future. - 10 years ago
I am trying to decide between all Bosch Benchmark appliances and all Thermador (they are having a great promotion). We are going with one brand for the "integrated design" look (shallow, I know). They are owned by the same company and my impression is that they are pretty similar underneath the hood, so basing it on overall look and price.
In terms of reliability, whenever there are issues that is going to be huge to the person who has them (see above!). But in making a decision, I think it's better to look at overall statistics rather than anecdotal responses. Two great resources are Consumer Reports (which lists Bosch as one of the three most reliable overall brands) and an interesting blog by Yale Appliances in Boston (http://blog.yaleappliance.com/bid/86332/The-Least-Serviced-Most-Reliable-Appliance-Brands-Reviews-Ratings). Consumer Report links are:
The Most Reliable Dishwasher Brands - Consumer Reports;
The Most Reliable Kitchen Appliances - Consumer Reports.
Hope that helps--and if anyone has any thoughts about Bosch v. Thermador, I'd love to hear them. nmgrimes
Original Author10 years agoIt has been 13 months since my remodel. I have no complaints with my Thermador appliances. I absolutely love the induction cooktop. It truly is the best of gas and electric combined, and extremely easy to clean. I have the professional double ovens with rotisserie. The rotisserie does make a mess of the oven but the self-clean function works great. I love the dishwasher and find I can usually get an entire days worth of dishes, pots, and pans in it thanks to the utensil rack (2 people). The built in fridge with the bottom freezer is a bit tight on space but we have an additional fridge for the overflow items. I have the microwave drawer and my only complaint is that the food needs to be moved occasionally since there is no turntable. I also have the downdraft and warming drawer. The downdraft works well. My kitchen would not accommodate a hood so it was a good compromise. I like the warming drawer but only use it occasionally. In retrospect I could have passed on the warmer. I do not regret purchasing the suite of Thermador appliances. They have all been performing very well without any service issues.- 10 years ago
Thanks bberrol2 for posting the above links. I really want the Bosch Benchmark appliances and the reports helped make me feel better about Bosch. I'm in a situation where the nearest Bosch Benchmark Appliance store is about 60 miles away so my only concern is service. One store said they would not deliver or service in my area but another one said they would. And, the Bosch web site does list a service person in my town. I may call them tomorrow and be sure they are still in business and can service Benchmark products. Good luck with your decision because I'm going through the same thing.
Service is a strong component of the decision, especially since these appliances should last a very long time. Good luck! Folks I know who purchsed Thermador like it alot, especially the ovens. Alot of the Benchmark components appear to be the same as Thermador. Both Thermador and Benchmark induction was v v nice. I got swayed to Wolf mostly because the local distributor had a track record of great service, including classes and a chef on staff to work through Qs. (There wasn't a Bosch/Thermador local equivalent). Enjoy your new kitchen!

Update from my comment from Dec 15th...both the good and the bad.
3rd visit from the Bosch technician was Jan 7th, this time with me present. Bosch customer service had promised me some "custom made front panel" in my last call with them before the holidays. I received no phone call the day before the appointment (bad). The technician showed up early on the day of the appointment (good). The technician did not have the custom-made front panel customer service promised (bad). The technician had absolutely no knowledge of this custom-made front panel that Bosch customer service had promised me (bad).
Anyways, I'm so glad I was present for this visit, because my oven is finally fixed (good). Sadly, it took an electrical engineer (yours truly) to figure out what was wrong. It was not an electrical issue. It was an assembly issue caused by a wiring harness being pinched by a piece of metal that runs across the back of the stove. Every time the range was slid all the way in, the metal was causing the wiring harness to short to the chassis, cutting power to the oven and control panel.
This has been quite an experience with Bosch. I realize that the Benchmark ranges are relatively new. It looks like Bosch doesn't have good quality control. It appears that Bosch isn't providing good training to the technicians supporting their ranges. Maybe I expect too much. Regardless, Bosch isn't getting any future business from me.

I'm very interested in your experience with your Bosch Benchmark Appliances now that you have used them for several months. I also want the 36" FlexInduction Cooktop and the Left Side Swing Oven like you have installed underneath the cooktop.
I would like to know your experience with reliability, noise level of the cooktop (fan and/or pan sounds like hissing and clicking etc.), temperature controls, pan recognition, etc. Also, your opinion of the power of the burners (as do you have to use a higher temperature than you thought, are the simmering features good, etc.), how you are finding the bridge feature is working with grill pans and other odd shaped pans like oval shape and any other experiences you have had. I know you posted a very good review earlier but I wanted to know if you are still having good luck and happy with Bosch.
I know that I like the temperature controls on the cooktop better than those that have sliders and "+" or "-" signs to have to repeatedly push. Bosch has a good rebate going on now with some of their appliances, Benchmark included. My only hesitancy is if something needs repair, I'm not sure of their customer service. Also, the nearest appliance stores that carry the Benchmark line are 60 to 70 miles away. One store said they would service my area but the other will not.
I did find out one local appliance store carries Miele. Miele came out with a new 36" one. It is Miele 36" KM 6370 (Stainless Steel Frame) or KM 6375 (same as the first but Flush Mounted). I'm looking into this one but not any reviews out yet that I can find.
If anyone out there have any other opinions along with kellyproctor I would welcome those also. Thanks
- 10 years agoFollowing this excellent discussion of positives as well as areas of concern. In just a few days I've got to decide if I should continue to enjoy my single, portable induction burner or go all in and get a cook top as those previously mentioned. Overall features are excellent reasons to purchase but problems are the drawback. Especially for the initial high cost when a regular electric cooktop is sufficient and affordable but sadly not as precise, etc. Dilemmas.......!
Good luck ahwasson. Let us know what you decide. I must make my decision soon also.
I was just about to order Benchmark series 800 Induction 36 cooktop and Combo Microwave Speed Oven / wall oven. So unsure because of reliability but then every manufactured seems to have a problem. I think the days of good customer service and reliable products are long gone. It seems I need to choice a range and cross my fingers they work ok and that I don't get a lemon (last one produced on a Friday afternoon!)
Trying to decide between the Bosch Benchmark double convection/steam combi oven or a single Wolf M Series convection oven and a Wolf M Series steam combi oven. The Wolf is more expensive - it doesn't offer the double oven configuration with a steam combi oven. The Bosch fits easily into my current kitchen oven cut-out while some retrofitting is needed for the two Wolf ovens. I would appreciate any comments from anyone who has either of these wall oven brands - pros/cons or positive cooking experiences with either. Thanks.
- 10 years agoWe don't have the Wolf M series, but the E series. Bosch and Wolf are in different league - at least IMO. The best thing about Wolf is reliability and customer service.
My short experience with the Wolf combi steam oven is positive, including support and service. Crossing fingers I say this 5 and 10 years from now. About to try the ESeries wall oven. They ordered a new door since I found a chip in it. No questions, they volunteered.
Thanks metalblaze and htc2015. Sounds like you're both pleased with your choice with Wolf. The Wolf steam oven is larger 1.8 v. 1.4 cubic feet and the Wolf has a more heavy duty feel. But Bosch/Gaggenau invented steam cooking and ease of installation for the Bosch is enticing. I think I will be making many more trips to the appliance store before deciding...
Trial them both at the appliance store or distributor. I didn't look at Miele or Gaggenau. I am happy with Wolf steam but wish I had also trialed Miele. (Gaggenau was too expensive) I wasn't familiar with Miele at the time. They seem like an excellent brand. So far and don't want to jinx myself, Wolf is what I expected and the service is responsive, friendly and helpful. I hope I don't have the ESeries oven chipping issues others have had, and which I didn't realize was more than a few folks until my purchase was in process. But so far they appear to stand by their products. (I printed out their website statement that these are 20+ year products!) The distributor service person was knowledgeable, courteous and kind when I had an installation question - Wolf sent them to our home to ensure all was OK. The distributor, Clarke, is highly regarded, too, and that may make a difference. They will set up time with a chef if ee want, pre and post sale. Good luck! Let us know what you select and how it is. I am still.bummed I passed on a sweet closeout of a 36 inch all gas Miele pro range early in my shopping. It was stunning but didn't know the brand.
BTW, the Wolf combi steam was an easy wall install. Removable water tank location is a breeze to fill. And the space is nice, along with the trays they provide. Good luck!

Regarding Bosch Benchmark Series oven & convection/microwave: We did a total home renovation, and I struggled at the time to find reviews on these products since they were relatively new. It was down to the GE Monogram Oven and C/M, and the Bosch Benchmark. I liked the look and the price of the Bosch, so went with them. Now, five months after install, I can give you the good and bad. The oven: Love the look and the feel--feels very high-end and well-built. Love the side door. We did a right hinge based on our layout, and it is awesome. Love the telescoping racks, too. However, we have had a power problem since install, and are awaiting a new board, although no one is sure that will fix it because the problem is intermittent. The lights are on, but I can't get beyond setting the temp without getting an error sound. To fix it, I need to flip the breaker switch. Also, the built-in temperature sensor no longer works after having used it about three times. I hope to have that repaired when the new board arrives. Fortunately it is still under warranty, and my service guy is the best. Everything else is fine, it is very intuitive and easy to use, but these are kind of big deals for a brand-new product. Oh, one other thing: it takes a freakishly long time to preheat.
Regarding the convection/microwave. I love the convenience of an additional oven without the size of a double oven. I still have my old microwave in the pantry for everyday use, and mainly use this appliance as a convection oven. I love the auto chef, and am constantly amazed at how well it works. Every time I've used it, the food comes out perfectly. However, it has some design/product flaws, in my opinion: 1. If you install it above your oven, you will find that it is very hard to clean the back. It is not a side hinge, as are most microwaves, it is a bottom hinge, so reaching to the back of the oven without a stool is nearly impossible. 2. You need to use the convection rack when in convection mode. However, the rack does not pull out. It sits on little plastic brackets, and needs to be lifted off the brackets and removed whenever you want to microwave. Not a big deal, although one of the brackets pulls off easily, and that's a pain. The big deal is that when you are using it to convection bake, you can't pull out the rack to stir or turn the food. And if it's installed above your oven, you can't look into the dish easily--it's too high. So you have to pull the dish you are cooking out of the oven, do what you need to do, and put it back in. That is a big flaw, in my opinion. 3. In auto chef mode, if you open the door, you have to remember to restart the oven when you close the door, or is stays in a standby mode. Several times, I don't notice until several minutes later that I forgot, and the food had stopped cooking until I hit the button to restart the program. 4. The broil feature--which was another deciding factor over the GE Monogram, which didn't have it--is mediocre. Really, really slow. You'll never accidentally burn your broiling foods, that is for sure. 5. I wish there were more than 9 Auto Chef choices.
Overall, it's fine, it's beautiful, but when you spend this much for a product you should expect not to have problems right away, and I'm surprised at all the flaws in the convection/microwave. I'm sure the other brands have some of the same issues, or new ones of their own. But I would have appreciated knowing some of these things prior to buying--it might have influenced my decision.
As a follow up, replacing the board has seemed to fix the power and sensor issues.
- 9 years agoWould you recommend the Bosch microwave/convection oven as an everyday microwave? We don't have room for a second one. Our thought was this oven could supplement our range oven when entertaining and be used the rest of the time for microwaving. I guess we'd leave the rack out of the oven most of the time. Why do you have a separate microwave?
Moving into new home later next year that will be equipped with Bosch 800 series kitchen appliances to include 30" French door refrigerator, dual fuel slide in range/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and range hood. Can upgrade to Benchmark series. Concerned about all the poor reviews of both the appliances themselves and especially the factory support. Icemaker in fridge, electrical shorts in ranges, smell and drying issues in dishwasher and most concerning of all is the poor factory response. Have redone 2 kitchens over the last 10 years, the first with Whirlpool Gold and the second with Kenmore, Samsung, and LG and have had no problems at all. Any advice would be appreciated.
Chocoshof: Bosch finally (after over a year) replaced my refrigerator with the new 800 series french door, with 2 freezer drawers. There is no ice through the door, but honestly that doesn't bother me, the ice is very convenient in the top freezer drawer. There is no water available. But I'm happy with it. I have ice, and the freezer freezes everything now. I hope that helps you.

got a bosch H convection microwave. a year later stopped working and when I called customer support they ask for 129 dollars for the service call and 30 dollars for every 20 minutes. I paid 1500 dollars for this unit and having to pay high dollar to get it look. no way Bosch. like having a Mercedes without an engine.

We are building & were debating between the KitchenAid Black stainless steel appliances with a Bosch gas stove top and all Bosch Benchmark series. I'm having a difficult time deciding. Does anyone have any knowledge of the combo speed cook/microwave & convection ovens? Thanks!

Bosch Slide In radiant and Induction
I had originally purchased the radiant because the gas was unavailable when supposed to be first out. I am a extremely well versed cook. To make the whole 2 trips story short. All I had was problems with the radiant and they replaced 3 times constantly stating it worked correctly as far as the oven temp even though ALL their own factory techs said it wasn't working right. I had professional thermometers that showed it was off 25 degrees sometimes 100 and inconsistent all the time. They even had engineers from the factory come admit it was working improperly then once back in NC would change their opinion.
Finally I had a large NY news channel put me in the air about it at which point Bosch replaced with the induction range and flew up 5 engineers and a test cook the dat before.
The end result was the oven still does not maintain accurate Temps and frankly I gave up.
I agree with the Pro comment and some engineers --- their ranges are horrible, expensive and they know there are problems that they admit then change their mind. I remodeled my whole kitchen with their products and would never buy them again!

Perhaps the most significant difference between the Benchmark dual fuel range and the 800 series is when you use propane instead of natural gas. On both units, the heat output of the right front burner drops from 15K BTU to 13.5K BTUs, which is notable if not huge.
However, on the power burner in the center, the output drops from 18K to 12.5K (yikes!) on the 800 series, yet on the Benchmark it drops only from 20K to 17K with propane. So the Benchmark gives you a very decent-- if not awesome-- power burner even with propane, while the 800 series gives you just one relatively anemic 13.5 burner as your most powerful option.
Unfortunately, the $2799 Benchmark dual fuel is not a discountable item. Paying about $600 more for the extra power in just one burner doesn't sit right with me. True, the Benchmark includes a sliding oven rack and soft-close door, but those bells are irrelevant to me.
So, I decided to spend a few hundred more and go with the entry-level Capital Precision all-gas range ($3,199). It got excellent reviews for performance and reliability and has four 19K burners, even with propane... and they all go down to a mere simmer. True, the oven is gas and not self-cleaning, but that's a trade off I'm OK with.
Moreover, the electronic panel on the Bosch seems vulnerable being so close to the oven door and susceptible to the intense heat of a self-cleaning cycle.

Bought a bosch 30 inch double oven with convection about 7 months ago. Now there is a haze in the glass between the double pane window. Its a poor design that lets steam settle between the glass and when it dries there is an unsightly haze that cannot be cleaned away. very bad customer service. told me they would clean glass one time as a courtesy and that I should cover my food when its cooking. For the price of this oven I would expect it to perform better. Even if they do clean it for me I would expect the problem to recur. Very disappointed with this product and this brand.

Well, what appeared to be stains between the glass actually turned out to be stain on the outside of the glass much to my amazement. Cleaning the glass first with a razor blade then scrubbing with 409 and finally cleaning with a glass polish the stains were removed!! I'm glad to restore the glass to its original brilliance but still feel that the upkeep is horrible. now i feel like i have to be very careful using the oven and after each use inspect and clean diligently. Shouldn't have to be this way.

DON’T BUY BOSCH. High-end Bosch Microwave purchased June, 2017, Sept. 2018 began blowing breaker. 'Repair' of door switch Oct. 2 after long wait for door switch part. Resumed blowing breaker. Second 'repair' Nov. 19. Told 'door misaligned' causing constant tripping of breaker. Unsafe to leave plugged in. Third repair attempt pending but may not succeed. Called Bosch Customer Service 5 times Nov. 19 - 20, total wait time 42 minutes with longest wait 17 minutes! Called Main Bosch HQ - Irvine, CA, incurring LD charge. Switched to Customer Service for 2 minute wait with no answer. Pathetic response to high-priced Microwave that won't last 2 years. Repairs now more than brand new MW from another brand!
