Professionals or not?

If a professional posts a lovely room ….. which this is! ….why oh why would they not answer questions about it? Seems if you want to participate in HOUZZ then participate by answering inquiries. Suggestion for HOUZZ:
add a link or area where all relevant details most frequently asked could be pre-answered (like paint color, furniture details) that way questions would be mostly comments and feedback and NOT the endless repetition of the same questions over and over…especially annoying when they are not answered by the professional!

In fact, if they won't answer questions, I will skip their designs. I rarely ask a question because if I scan the questions that have already been asked (which I wish more people would do rather than ask the same question that has been asked AND answered several times) I usually find the answer to any question I may have had.

It is hard to match colors on a monitor, but this looks a lot like the color I used in my bedroom. It is BM Wedgewood Gray. This color might be a bit darker, but I think it's a close match.

thanks all. our goal is to have HOUZZ listen! LOVE this site but it needs some improvements! Create a standard interface that the pros who participate can give info available such as paint color etc. when they submit their work, We can check that area for info and not clog up the comment section with ENDLESS repeat questions!!! Agree anyone? Send comments to HOUZZ!!!

I couldn't agree more. Why do people post photos and then withhold answers to obvious compliments to their work.

Very we'll said and I couldn't agree with you more. Usually any link or anything to do with HOUZZ I just move on to the next available site of reference. This has to be the most frustrating site. Example, this color really tempted me so I clicked the link off of Pinterest even though I seen that it was going to take me to HOUZZ. I was hoping and prying it would have the paint color or some additional reference information. NOT! HOUZZ, in my opinion is a TOTAL WASTE OF PEOPLES TIME AND DISC SPACE. EVERY SINGLE TIME AFTER CLICKING ANY LINKS RELAYING ME TO HOUZZ HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT A MEGA DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Good luck getting the paint color on this one. Looks like people started asking in the comments late July, and still no info available. The poster is probably the HOUZZ creator??? Hummmm perhaps.....lol

Actually, I contacted the architecture company itself and got a response. The guy said that the picture was posted a while back and the files were already in dead storage so no way to get the color on the walls.

The paint color is Farrow and Ball Lulworth Blue (#89). http://us.farrow-ball.com/lulworth-blue/colours//fcp-product/100089 "

Why would folks think that designers etc should be obliged to go through old paperwork etc to answer the endless color requests. If you get an answer ...great ! , but I certainly don't think you should "expect" answers just because they chose to share images of their work.

The whole purpose of being a designer is having the knowledge to know what goes with what. If some colors are admired a designer should know exactly what color they used and post it along with their design. It's a given that you are proud if your work therefore you post it. So, why not tell the world how you achieved the look by posting what you used in the photo? That's my stand on being a designer and I am only one by trade. But I have the decency to let people know while it's fresh on my mind after a project.

again HOUZZ! If you changed the format of these postings to include the info on the frequently asked questions about color etc as part of a accessible sub menu on each pic the comments would highlight the work. endless repetitive questions are of NO interest to most…especially when they are not ever addressed. I AM CURIOUS if anyone from HOUZZ reads these comments…they never respond. They have a beautiful superior wow product for sure. It could use some tweaking to make it even better. ANY response from HOUZZ welcome. FELLOW HOUZZ ENTHUSIASTS: DO U AGREE???

Pattycake, I agree with you!!! I read Tobi Fairley's section - she seemed to be very honest and forthcoming, I appreciated that so much since I LOVE her work. She gave fabric names, manufacturers, and paint colors. But that is VERY rare on here. The paint color should be one of the EASIEST information to pass on. Not like most of us could afford to have custom things made for us anyway, so we are not going to copy their work!! Usually they have people custom-make pillows, drapes, etc., so it all flows together. Most people don't have time or money to do that. We are just regular people looking for DIY ideas - don't they get that???

Hello, we have answered the paint-color question more than a dozen times. It is Farrow & Ball Lulworth blue. @carrie C your recent comment brought this entire thread to our attention. Barnes Vanze is a small architecture firm and until last year, did not have a marketing person whose job it was to go through questions on houzz, which is why they went unanswered. Also, please keep in mind that architecture firms do not make selections on paint color, furnishings, finishes, tile or flooring. Designers do. We have been lucky to photograph our projects after talented interior designers have decorated them. We take exception to the argument that we are purposefully withholding information. Since last year, we have strived to answer questions -- when we are able -- in a timely manner.

As a professional decorator, we do our best to answer questions. But I always advise my clients to look at the "big picture" with all their selections, not just a paint colour, because though it may look lovely in the photo, the rest of the space - furniture, area rugs, cabinetry, tile, ect.. all come into play as well. Paint colour is usually the last thing I choose once all the interior finishes have been selected.
