Awesome! Just gorgeous. Does the skylight need shading?

How can you shade this skylight? Have a stained glass domed skylight in a Los Angeles home. But noonday sun -- especially in summer, can be overwhelming as well as damaging. Is this one shaded? Would be grateful for some help or guidance!!

Hi all! We built the hand made leaded glass ceiling dome you see here. We've installed projects in Los Angeles as well! Spectrum Skyworks is correct, there is an interior shaft that goes up to an exterior grade skylight that protects the dome from the elements. the cavity between the dome and skylight has an air/supply return that regulates the temperature. Skylight above this is a glass design feature at base of shaft? I would say.
If the skylight on the roof has up to date LoE glass you should not really need shades. Unless you want to black it out of course.

What size is the actual skylight opening? What cost is involved with installing this type of skylight / leaded glass ceiling?

hi, it's an 8x8. Can be 8-10k for this size. You can shade it with motorized horizontal blinds or blackout fabric on horizontal track.
