Horizontal wall Boards

Love this room! Are the horizontal wall boards also tongue and groove MDF or are they just boards placed 1/16th of an inch apart?

the 1" x 8" boards are placed at 1/16" apart.

thank you for answering this question. I am putting hardie siding on the exterior of my house and can't decide between a 7 or 8 inch reveal. This looks great! I will use the 8 inch reveal now. Thank you so much for this reference of what 8inch boards look like.
