Veronica, I'm honestly not sure! The cabinetry was new, but existing when we purchased the house 3.5 years ago. All I've done is moved the cabinetry all around and detailed it (with a Sharpie marker, believe it or not!). My realtor thinks it's hickory, my custom home builder's carpenter thinks it's cherry. The island is cherry, but painted black.

I would say definitely not hickory. Could be Cherry but more likely a birch with cherry colored stain. Possibly alder. Look at the grain....not color. That is just stain.

It's definitely granite and I LOVE it! It's exotic delicatus, also called tropical delicatus. Standard delicatus is black and white, while exotic/tropical has gold, brown, and sometimes peachy tones in it.

The standard black and white is an easy find, and the slabs vary less. However, slabs for tropical/exotic delicatus vary *wildly!* We fell in love with a photo of a kitchen with exotic delicatus and it took us a month to find something that was even close to matching it. If you purchase exotic delicatus, it is imperative to pick your slabs out in person, and a good supplier will have the slabs numbered in the order they were harvested. You want to purchase a group that were harvested together. It took 3 slabs to do this kitchen, and our slabs were numbers 41-43. Slabs very that much!

Also something to consider: If you want a perfectly smooth countertop, delicatus may not be for you. We've had perfectly smooth granite in other homes and in this one, granite types like Uba Tuba, Peacock Verde, and Kashmir. But this granite has visible crystalline textures formed of mica, quartz, orthoclase feldspar, plagioclase, and other dark accessory minerals. There are tiny dots here and there of garnet. There are also K-spar crystal pieces throughout that sparkle like diamonds. I love it :-D. But it's bumpy on the edges, not cut your hand bumpy, but very smooth bumps on the edges, and every now and then on the top of the countertop itself, you'll feel a pinhead size rough spot. It's par for the course with this particular granite.

I'll enclose a picture of the piece on our 6 ft. island. It's an excellent example of what this granite looks like.
