Need help with villa livingroom

I am purchasing this little vacation villa in Florida with my Mom and I want to decorate it in cheerful tropical colors. I don't want palm trees and parrots all over my fabrics, but rather rich woods/some rattan/wicker and happy colors such as in the designer picture examples I am attaching here. I am stuck on the living room design plan and I am stuck on the couch and rug in particular. I will most likely leave the furniture arrangement the same and the 2 chairs (beige microfiber) you see in the picture have been left behind by the old owners. They also left the dinette set behind. I know how to sew (beginner) and I am good with a paint brush on furniture or walls. I plan on hanging textured white sheers to the right and left of the doorway to the sun-room (see example pic) and I am using the green/yellow/white/pink palette in the adjacent bedroom. I would like to make this room really fabulous. I am open to any and all ideas! Thank you!

yes the BM colour. i painted my kitchen this colour, its gorgeous and goes with pretty much any theme you want. That couch is lovely: put that with a lovely mat, blue walls, white trimmings, a nice light fitting and some prints on the wall and you'll have a beautiful, classy room!

A cool blue on the walls and a mix of textures. Does the sofa stay? If so, a white or cream slipcover would be in order. Pick 3 fabrics in a similar blue/ cream tone in varied patterns for pillows would add some interest.

Hey there!

this lounge area reminds me somewhat of my own. I am currently remodelling mine as its bland and cream. Im going for a beachy-tropical look. I think you should go for 'palladian blue' for the walls and bright white for the trimmings and ceiling. Just this alone makes a room look bright, airy and inviting. It also allows for pretty much any colour coordination. with this you could go for couches with white slip colours and then brightly coloured patterned cushions and some pretty prints on the walls and maybe a yellow chevron rug or a natural type of rug on the floor?. I don't think you should go for any crazy wallpaper or colours on the walls as its hard to restyle and maybe a bit full on.

I have been thinking about blue believe it or not, but I have never decorated with it. When you say Palladian blue, are you speaking about the BM color? I saw this sofa earlier and was considering the possibility. That would fit in well with your suggestions. Thanks for the ideas :)

Elklaker- they left the sofa. Lucky me :) It's temporary though! I am going to really consider blues. It's tough for an Italian girl like me. I gravitate towards golds- think it's in the genes!

RM- Do you think blue it will work with the bedroom color palette? That will be green walls, yellow bedding and green/yellow/pink fabrics and accents (same palette as room above with green rather than yellow walls)?

I don't see why not? I have found that the blue can fit with nearly anything. You would add a couple of duck egg coloured cushions to the bed or change the sheets if you really want to tie it all in, but not everything in the house has to match exactly :)

Hi Michelle- I had to take pictures of pictures to post these. My phone has the room in various stages of design but these pics are the closest I have to the completed room. Still need to put the wire cover on to conceal the wires coming down from the TV, but this will give you a pretty good idea of how it looks. The room beyond this room is a small sun room overlooking the lake. There is some patio furniture stacked up on the left but that was temporary :)

It's a tad over-crowded, but since it will be used mainly as a vacation home I would rather have all the comforts of home available than not. The room flows well, even though there isn't a ton of space. The mirrored wall definitely opens the space up and reflects a lot of light.
