You definitely have a lot going on and your countertops are definitely peachy. Since you don't like them and for now you seem to be okay with the yellow in the floors and the backsplash which do seem to relate well to one another in the photos, I'd think something ivory-ish and very simple would look great. Bringing home samples isn't a bad idea but you don't always get a true picture of what you're going to get. I'd spend some time looking at kitchens on HOUZZ or elsewhere - just type in "ivory countertops with dark cabinets" (ignore that fact that the HOUZZ computer will give over 36,000, many of which don't relate because it can't think). Flip through them until you find cabinets close to your color. You won't be able to factor in the tile and probably not a similar backsplash but it cab help you visualize your own kitchen with that change. I do think some improved lighting would also help - even with a window, the cabinets in the corner are going to seem a bit dark. I don't think I'd worry that much about long-term value at this time - your first goal needs to be to make your kitchen a place you enjoy and if you can do it with one big change, go for it. Down the road if you want to change the floors or the backsplash for yourself, do so. The thing we don't think about for resale is that, unless we're planning on selling tomorrow, whatever we do today is going to be considered past the trend or outdated by the time we sell. It looks like you have a modern feel going in your kitchen and just need a few adjustments to complete the look.
The backsplash is way to contemporary as well as the countertops. Think modern and sleek. Right now I see too many textures and it seems a little to busy. Also replace the cabinet pull with more modern ones. I do like the floor, it has a deco feel and might work with some bright colors you can introduce to brighten up the mono chromatic look you have now.

Dark cabinetry with turned posts are a classic traditional kitchen with lasting style. This look has been done a lot, and spans several generations, but not enough to date it other than traditional. That valance across the sink window is a bit dated and can be removed with adding new crown on just the cabinets. Adding a little blingy hanging light fixture above the sink would be eye catching. This will make that area feel so much more open too. Replacing the heavy solid light fixtures over the island with a smaller style, lighter, maybe even crystal gems to bring in some flash will be fun. The countertops need to be brighter to give the overall kitchen a pop and not be so monochromatic with the floor. A bolder backsplash would also be a great uplift. Add some color!

I would add under counter lights. Xenon on a dimmer to be exact.
Also, I would change the pendant fixtures to tight spot 4" recessed can lights.
