Need help choosing Kitchen Countertop

I need help choosing a Kitchen Countertop. Please!

Any help is really appreciated. We are hoping for suggestions. We are really worried that we will choose the wrong Countertop and ruin our whole kitchen. We have already selected and paid for Cabinets and Floor Tiles.

Floor Tile
- 60cm X 60cm Geology Stone Beige Porcelain Tile
(pic included)

Cabinets
- Traditional Raised Panel
- Maple Wood with Dark Chocolate Stain
(found a pic as close as I could to the color of the cabinets)

We are open to anything. We do really like the character of Granite, but are open to Quartz. We first selected a "Splendor Gold" Granite Countertop, but then thought our Kitchen would look too yellow.

Right now, we are considering "Juparana Delicatus" in Granite. And "Taj Mahal" in Quartzite. That being said, we are still waiting on a quote for the Quartzile, and not sure if that is in our budget.

Again any help, suggestions and advice is appreciated.

I am a fan of white. This one is Caesarstone Blizzard 2141.

Not sure why there is so much blue in the pictures. There is no blue in either slab. I took these pics with my iphone.

I like the Delicatus because it has both colors of your cabinets and your flooring in it with a good amount of white and cream.

I like quartz more than granite- less movement (not as busy) and no need to seal it every year like you have to do with granite. Can you show any pictures of the room ?

Be sure whatever stone you pick that you go to tag your slab. Never pick and order just from a sample at the store.

cabingirl13 ... we are redoing our kitchen. so cabinets are being made and stained as we speak. and the floor tiles, we have purchased them, but they have not been intalled yet. we ar also painting. so we are redoing everything.

You do not need to seal granite every year, I was told by the fabricator who did ours. He said every 10 years is all.

Tigris Sand (Silestone) is a nice ivory/off white shade with small variations in colors and would look nice with the darker cabinets...just not sure how well it would go with the tile floor. http://img.archiexpo.com/images_ae/photo-g/silestone-counter-tops-50842-4469091.jpg

thanks rosecottagehome, my family likes the delicatus. but were worried if it really does look good. especially once installed. my mother loves granite because of the charactar, but then i worry that it will get too busy.

Deciding is really such a personal thing and depends on one's taste. When you do go to view slabs, be sure to take a flooring sample and if you can a sample cupboard door. That is really the only way you can make a good decision. Your floor tile does have some movement in it, so possibly bring 4 floor tiles along. The Quarzite you picked is much less busy, but put all the samples together to see.

Have had granite for many years. I never abuse it and have never had it re-sealed. It looks perfect.

I like the idea of something lighter, but really you have to do what you love- But, like you, I always want to run ideas by people and get some additional thoughts from them. I would look at Delicatus white and Alaska White. They both have lots of brown on a white background.

Thanks rosecottagehome. We do that. We have a floor and wood sample. It definitely helps! But its still definitely hard to imagine what the whole kitchen will look like. the Quartzile was about $1500 more, so we are shying away from it.

I find Alaska White doesnt look good with the beige floor tile. Ive never seen Delicatus White, I will look out for it. Thank you for the recommendation. This is driving me nutz.

Looking at the floor tile, you're right about Alaska White. Delicates can have lots of cream in it which could work. But, as you know, you have to look at the slab. I'm just amazed by how much they can vary. Good luck! I'm in the midst of doing this too and now I think have just the hardware to decide on. Progress is slow but steady.

Just going off of how your photos appear... Don't care for the selected tile (reads warm tan to me) combined with either granite (both look cool and mostly gray). Maybe the countertop choices don't look like that in real life? Give Colonial Cream or Kashmir Gold granite a look to coordinate better with your tile choices.

Colonial Cream is very nice, something on that end will probably work well with what appears to be gold tones in your tile. And also has some lighter creams to tone down the yellow. Do have a pic of the tile in the space from a distance along with a cabinet door or sample, we might be able to see the true color that way?

izaidi have you had a chance to go look at slabs yet? If not, I also meant to suggest you bring your camera/phone and take pictures of your choices with your flooring and cupboard sample up against it to bring home and sit in your kitchen with a cup of tea and see if you can visualize the look of the granite in it. I would look for a granite that has some , even a little of the floor color in it. You can not possibly decide until you go to look. The granite representatives are also usually very helpful and can also suggest. Good luck and let us know how you do.
