Does the art throw it off? Should I try something to pick up some color off artb

    Oops art..

You have a very neutral palette going on... I would say you should go with colors that make you happy!.. Pattern and texture could also be brought in... You could also add a throw for added coziness and texture.
But if you prefer neutral colors-- find pillows and throws that have lots of textural elements in neutral colors such as linen, white etc...

I really like the green in your painting and the stems of the flowers. I think that grass green pillows plus Margo's first pillow suggestion will be inviting. A grass green throw... in the Wintertime will be gorgeous. Something woven... a loose weave or a nubby texture will ve divine. The freen will wake-up your calm sofa... and also add earthy sensuality. Love the cow hide seat! Love to see accessories... shiny silver, mercury glass vase, silver sconce lighting on wither side of the painting, maybe a silver bowl full of nuts... I am not being nutty... imagine curling up on the soda, draped in a luxurious green woven throw and feasting on a healthy snack. Plus, nutcrackers are fun... satisfying "crack"... it's the grown-up cersion of playing with your food :)

I am looking at your coffee table and thinking that the frame might be chrome or brushed chrome. Rustoleum has a new product called "Mirror". It creates a perfectly smooth mirror like surface... much better than blotchy silver spray paint. The mirror look... is new technology. Super easy & super cool!

Love your room. May I ask the brand and color of your sofa? Thank you.

I think your art has much warmer colors than the sofa so I might bring in a warm rusty red/orange in the pillow selection. I chose the first pic thinking maybe of pillows the color of the art in that pic.

Ann... the orange & grey combination... warm & cool... very nice. It's also a classic... 1920's, 1950's, possibly late 1980's & recently. Calm and exciting... just like a great party with favorite people :). Me likey.

I think @irastuckey is right....the art isn't complimenting the sofa. I actually like the clean lines of the sofa and wouldn't add throw pillows but would consider adding a simple throw on the chaise for interest.

What about something like this over the sofa... Simple and dramatic.

You could sell it at a furniture consignment store. Or... paint It a charcoal color.... and then add... 2 shades lighter... brush on & wipe off all raised areas. It is very cool... just needs different color. Could go bold... Base coat black and paint on cobalt blue... then wipe blue off raised surfaces. As for your art in your first photo... I absolutely love it... especially with the first pillow suggestion. Much better than the blue... which may be "chilly" with the grey photo, Other option... paint the frame of the artwork over your sofa. The existing frame may be too warm toned? Black frame... no... charcoal frame... yes. regarding the burnt orange pillow idea... maybe as a throw instead of a pillow. I still like the grass green throw idea... hmmm... maybe... seasonal switch... orange throw in Winter & green throw in Summer. Your coffee table is wonderful... yet... if you had a glass table with chrome frame... spectacular in that setting.

Or paint the frame a dark teal... shiny... yes. Definitely... and keep the first pillow.

Oooh... not currently the trend... but oooh anyway... the lampshades... burnt orange.... or grass green... or the blue of Flair Lighting's wall color. Wow... that would balance out the room nicely. Colored lampshades were very popular in the 1920's. Another lampshade color... not sure... maybe too bold... cranberry red. I once bought a pair of funky mid century table lamps at an antique show... white shades were definitely not going to work. So, I went to a place that specializes in custom. The man suggested burnt orange shades with a swirly fabric and beaded tassles. I looked at him horrified... then turned around to see the expression on the peoples faces behind me. Their expressions were not what I expected. Then, I looked at the table lamps in their hands. Gorgeous.... hmmm... I decided to say "yes" to the burnt orange swirly tone on tone lampshades. Crazy result... those darn lampshades go with everything. The man had no idea what my home looked like. I have since moved... and... those darn lampshades go with everything!

    .
    Now imagine...
veneered lampshades... either natural wood or stained,
    Margo's first pillow,
    a grass green throw (Summer),
    burnt orange throw (Winter),
    silver... or aluminum accessories,
    chrome & glass coffee table...

All of the items in the earlier post & this one...
are now on ebay. The platters are made of solid aluminum
and were caste from sand molds. The result is a gorgeous uneven glow...
much better when seen in person. The internet doesn't do it justice.
The manufacturer is based out of New Mexico: Mariposa.

If you could find the fabric for Margo's first pillow...
and used it for the lampshades instead...
    no need for pillows.
Wow... I really love that fabric in your room.

This is a simple problem to fix. First get rid of that out dated painting on the wall. Go online to overstock.com or art.com pick a Georgia O'Keeffe flower, I would say 2 of her red poppies or lilies. Pull the strongest colors outta the paintings and grab some inexpensive pillows from Ross. Make sure they are solid orange or red to make that gray sectional pop. Get rid of the cow skin chair maybe to a hallway. Replace with 2 accent chairs. Since gray is so neutral any color would give personality to this room.

Your room is lovely and soft. Keep your selection of pillows soft in color...............muted shades.

agree with Beverly. looks really cute, tho Im inclined to say pull a little yellow from the painting out. and adjust your rug even if it means turning it the other way, so the sofa is completely on it.
