Kitchen renovation: 1969 colonial to Today's standard

Renovated 1969 colonial. Previous first floor was compartmentalized; we switched the location of the dining room and kitchen and opened up the living space to make use of all spaces.

Bye bye colonial ! Love it, your wood floor is amazing !

really pretty new kitchen but I wonder if the open style of the older kitchen would be easier to work around than the new galley kitchen.

Hard to believe these are the same space. Love it!

Hazeldazel - the new kitchen is open concept, not galley. It opens to large family room behind the island chairs. The kitchen is double the size of the old, closed-off space, with much more countertops and workspace.

Looks like White cabinets are the big trend for 2014. Amazing transformation, Enjoy!

@angel_design - with all due respect, the new kitchen is open concept but the large island creates a galley kitchen with narrow walkways on either side of it.

i would like to know the cost of this kitchen renovation. Can anyone guess-timate?
Are the cabinets new or refinished. Is the floor reclaimed wood? LOVE this kitchen!

perez0926/Julane: the pendant is very similar to the one at Restoration Hardware, however we found this one for a much less cost at Southern Lights http://southernlightsinc.com/

lorijferris: The cabinets were new, custom built by Charles Cabinetry (Roseville, MN). Floor is not reclaimed (walnut, 4", no stain - just clear polyurethane).

maryjoshherrill: This kitchen was part of a full house renovation; the place was completely gutted. It's hard to determine how much the kitchen alone cost, but if you are looking to move walls, windows, plumbing and support beams, it could cost $80k + , depending on finishes. If you just want to give your kitchen a facelift, it could cost much less.

I would like to thank the designer for answering questions and responding so quickly, that doesn't always happen and it is appreciated even though I was not asking questions. Love the remodel, viewed the renovation and think you all created a beautiful and much more functional and appealing space.
