Nicely done! You might want to think about adding the same backsplash all the way to the bottom of the upper cabinets for a more cohesive look. If budget allows I would also consider to first change the counter tops. Otherwise keep and enjoy your great achievement. Best of luck from Montreal!

Did this involve taking down the cabinets to stain both the inside and outside panels?

@Rue yes it did! It was a tedious process.

@rebecca Mitchell---I found that glass tile on clearance & it is no longer available. I purchased 11 12X12 squares & had to cut them in half to have enough to go around the entire kitchen. I don't want the backsplash to go all the way to the bottom of the cabinets so this works for me!

The change looks good however I thought the oak cabinets looked okay. The backsplash needs to be extended to bottom of upper cabinets as it looks unfinished.

The oak cabinets screamed 1980's so I'm good & the backsplash is an accent border! I've seen it done in many home improvement magazines but thanks for your comment anyway!! I love it & that's all that matters!!

Did you strip the old stain and restain the dark? Great job !!!! Will appreciate your process.

I did sand each cabinet and thoroughly clean them before I stained. I set up an assembley line and worked on about 4 at a time cause I had no help. Overall I have 23 doors and 8 drawers. I just picked at it in my leisure time over 3 months. BTW I hand sanded mine.

wow, someone on this site that actually used their brain and didn't slap paint on them. I to am considering refinishing my cabinets a cherry color. Yours are a little to dark for my liking. It also looks like you used a semi-gloss. Also to shiny for me. But very good job nonetheless. The old ones aren't that bad either but anything is 1,000 times better then painted cabinets.
