I guess if you don't mind guests using your other bathrooms you don't need one I don't like people snooping in my private spaces so I have a powder room.

Having a small bathroom near the door is handy for multiple reasons. For instance if you are working in the yard and don't want to track freshly mown grass into the house, also if you have someone doing yard work for you and don't want them to just whizz behind the nearest bush. It provides a mirror for those last minute checks as you are preparing to walk out and want to make sure you are presentable and don't have spinach between your teeth. If you have small children having that last chance to "go before getting in the car" can be important or having a place they can run to if they are desperate when returning home is good. Also the kids don't have to come in all the way when they've been making mud pies in the yard. It's also easier when you have dinner guests to send them to the "last door on the left" instead of having to say "go to the 2nd door, then through the guest room to the bathroom in the back of it."

I would definitely keep the powder room.
