smileyface2013, I'm with you. For years I too subscribed to Architectural Digest and House Beautiful but I couldn't bear to throw them away. The internet, houzz in particular, satisfies my desire to see beautiful spaces without the storage issue :)

My style has changed from traditional to contemporary, and I get tremendous ideas from model homes. I wish somebody would publish a magazine featuring decorated model homes. I got the idea for my diva room from a picture of a model home. Right now my favorite magazines are HGTV and Refresh.

Also still mourning the loss of Domino mag, the quarterly version is less design focused and less down to earth.

I only subscribe to HGTV's magazine, but regularly pick up Vintage Style and Fresh Style magazines. They appeal to my boho inclinations and I like the creative projects ( not that I actually DO the projects, but I like the idea of it- ha ha). I also like the use of repurposing and the green aspect of a secondhand focus.

I recently discovered Canadian House and Home (I think that's the name... It was VERY recent). I like Country Living, adore Veranda, Cottage and Bungalows, Domino, and Flea Market Finds. I know, excessive. Recycling isn't an issue b/c I subscribe to digital versions.
Several posters have commented that some of the mags have photos of rooms that are "too perfect". That's why I love them! For the inspiration. For example, I will never have a living room like the exquisite cream and aqua one from a couple of weeks ago on Houzz, but that shade of dreamy aqua was stunning, and you can bet I will find some way to introduce it either in my L.R. or bedroom. Inspiring.

I subscribe to BH&G, country living, HGTV magazine, arts & craft home and country's best cabins........too many but the last two are finished soon. Love to open the mailbox and find a new magazine to look at!

Like getting magazines. Subscribe to Canadian Style at Home - great ideas and is relevant to Canada where I live.

I enjoy Houzz, and read design blogs all the time, but there's just something about seeing photos of beautiful houses in a magazine that doesn't carry over to a computer or nook. I love, love House Beautiful and Traditional Home,also take BHG (very real-life design). I have tried Elle Decor, Verandah, and AD, but the houses shown are so "not-liveable" to me that I have let my subscriptions lapse.

Houzz, which is toooo perfect sometimes, I wish there were some part completed projects shewn. Direct or on-line at satellite tv channel, http://www.leonardo.tv from sunny Italy. Used to subscribe to Fine Home-building, but too expensive over here in England.

I go to the public library on a regular basis and browse all the house magazines they have.

Houzz is my favorite on-line design blog for sure but I will never let my Cdn House and Home mag lapse. I have been a subscriber since 1986. I agree with other posters here in regard to Canada's Style at Home mag. Way to white, pink, lavender and grey.

I work in a hospital, so I take all the magazines I've finished to the patient library. They take a cart around to the inpatient rooms every week and love having new material for them.

Yes, I hate to say it but I think it's Style At Home's new editor, Erin McLaughlin. She seems to be taking things in this girly glam direction - or whatever you would call it. And so many all-white interiors - I remember one issue, every home they featured was an all-white decor, and I could have sworn they shot the whole mag in B&W lol!

Always so kind karemore, I think you hit the nail on the head about the girly glam. I was thinking too that she is going in a very young direction so much of the furniture is painted and distressed in every issue. Maybe that's just me.

I subscribe to Martha Stewart and Dwell. I LOVE Dwell. I occasionally buy HGTV magazine, too. I also subscribe to Family Handyman which is just awesome. I did subscribe to Fine Woodworking but grew tired of their 'preaching.' Handyman is better. I love Houzz because it gives both practical advice and the design aspect. And, I subscribe to Houseplans.com emails which keeps me dreaming.

I don't subscribe to any, but check out this old house online and I have a friend who passes along sunset mag. I occasionally check out other online mags and, of course, love houzz!

TFH was thru a cute little Girl Scout who asked me for a subscription - I like it because it has some great projects and ideas. MS is the only one on the list from my airline forcing me to redeem some points last year!!

I subscribe to Better Homes & Gardens + Southern Living, and I like to pick up Cottage Home magazines when I find them.

I'm going to raise my hand & confess I'm a magazine junkie! I still miss Met Home. Loved Domino too. I currently subscribe to magazines with ideas I can't find anywhere else (like Atomic Ranch) or a local bent (Colorado Homes, Modern in Denver).

For the rest of my "fix" I'll give a plug to Next Issue, which is sort of like Netflix for magazines. One monthly fee gives you access to a ton of top titles, and not just shelter mags. It has greatly reduced my back issue pile-up, as well as eliminated my impulse purchases at the checkout.

For years I've purchased magazines from newsstands because once I tried subscribing and they arrived damaged. I love my twice monthly trips to buy new mags-House Beautiful, Trad Home, Veranda, Elle Décor, Domino, Architectural Digest, Dwell, Coastal Living, This Old House, Southern Living, House and Home, and HGTV magazine. I've donated or tossed most all of them except House Beautiful, 2010 to current. I have only current issues of the other titles, except House and Home which I am unable to locate so I will be subscribing to real soon. I currently subscribe to HB, Elle Décor and Veranda, and my daughter receives Architectural Digest @ her office, she sends new issues to me. And I'm obsessed w/Pinterest.com and Houzz.com! Think I'm gonna purchase Amazon Kindle so I can sign up for digital subscriptions.

I LOVE House Beautiful. I have several other subscriptions, but this one is, by FAR, my favorite.
I also truly adore HOUZZ and look forward to Sunday's and Wednesday's.

I subscribe to "Eigen huis & Interieur" ( Home and interior), it was a gift and I sometimes buy or borrow "Stijlvol Wonen", "Elegance", "Residence" and "More Than Classic", all Dutch/ Belgian magazines. I love Houzz; the design dilemma's, discussions photo's and products but
I discovered that US homes are more traditional than European.

While I love, love, love, Houzz, I subscribe to House Beautiful and have for a very long time. I love it; not giving it up anytime soon!! I'm debating on a subscription to HGTV mag.

Just Country Living & Houzz...my two guilty pleasures! :)

Elle Decor and Luxe (kind of surprised few people mentioned that one. I prefer it to most others.) Houzz has a lot more "information" - particularly through the reader questions and responses. Maybe more practical overall. But the good design mags are often more clear on design and have a ton more ads for designer furniture, tile etc. that I can check out before spending the time to go into the design districts in Seattle and Bellevue. (And I don't get into as much trouble drooling on the magazines as I do when I drool on the actual products in store! :-) )

Why would i do that when I have Houzz? tehe. Oh ok. just one. Home Beautiful (in Australia).

I live in perth, australia. I subscribe to Scoop, homes and art which is produced quarterly. It's benefits are that it is a locally produced magazine that features local products as well as design and architecture local to perth and throughout Australia. In the day and age of sourcing everything online it is nice to be able to visit the shops and see the goods prior to purchase.

I refer to myself as a "magazine whore"...love so many: House Beautiful, Elle Decor, Traditional Home, Country Living, Victoria and others I am "blank" to their titles for now. Those are the print editions I subscribe to. Then there are a multitude of others I subcribe to on my e- readers and the majority of those are the International editions of above mentioned, plus others. I was devastated to see the demise of Metropolitan Living, Country Homes, Domino. Of course I am thrilled that Domino is back, somewhat and I enjoy getting the few editions of Country Homes they put out.
I absolutely am thrilled to spend time on Pinterest, and then there are so many design blogs I could just become downright giddy!
But, of course, one of my all time favorites, if not now The favorite, is of course, Houzz...the absolute best place to get completely immersed and lost in design nirvana!

Country Living for many years, Traditional Homes in recent years. Others like Veranda, Southern Living even though I live in the Northwest, and Sunset off and on. I loved Cottage Living, but it is no more. I get all my subscriptions through Diet Coke rewards so I don't pay for them.

Coastal Living - great design, ideas and recipes. Stay away from subscribing to House Beautiful.....horrible customer service and they SOAK you on subscription renewal costs with their automatic subscription renewal program.

My home was built in 1878. I subscribe to This Old House magazine. I love it!

I receive Veranda, but I miss "Home" The Remodeling and Design Resource. They were so good to stay ahead, and gave valuable information, without going over the top. In other words---affordable for 'normal' folk. :D

Enjoy the British shelter and garden magazines. Over time my favorites change. No more A. Digest or magazines that only do stories on over the top homes. This past year I have been reading Cottage that comes out four times a year. As much as I enjoy Houzz and my I Pad books, print will always be a part of my reading habits

I subscribed to Traditional Home, but gave it up. It has much fewer informative articles and much, much more advertisements (and the exact same ones each month)

Still love my shelter magazines as there is something about holding it in my hands and knowing that it has been adequately vetted by knowledgeable reps of the Architectural and Design set. Over the years, I have educated my eye with publications like Architectural Digest, Elle Home, etc. and have a more sophisticated taste than I did years ago.
However, I invest a lot of time reviewing Houzz and feel that I have benefited greatly from exposure to so many professionals and well done projects. Clever folks out there !

Yes, love paper mags ! Here in Canada we have a beautiful magazine called AZURE and it is one of my faves...then, for a more residential and commercial look, I like ELLE DECOR.

• I love my home and design "shelter" magazines. They are my guilty pleasure. I currently have subscriptions to House Beautiful (by far my all time favorite), ELLE Decor, Veranda, Sunset, and Better Homes & Gardens. The only one I actually pay for is House Beautiful, and its well worth the money. All of the others have been no cost to me, as I've received free subscriptions to them through PINCHme.com! I have a few digital subscriptions that I read on my iPad as well - but nothing beats the feeling of getting a new magazine every month in the mailbox!

I've subscribed to a ton (House Beautiful, Veranda, Elle Decor, Real Simple, etc.), but my all time favorite was Cottage Living which....(sigh)...was discontinued about ten years. I saved my old issues of Cottage Living and when I flip through them, I'm amazed to see that every featured home still would hold its own in any current magazine spread. They really nailed homes with timeless class, charm, and CHARACTER. They were homes a fantasy aunt with relentless funk and class would invite you to come visit during Thanksgiving break. Other magazines can be fun for inspiration, but I find their features are either a little too characterless and trendy (e.g., HGTV, Real Simple), or they are too styled and over-the-top (e.g., House Beautiful, Architectural Digest) for me to really get fully transported by. I'm going to check out some English shelter mags to see if I can find an adequate substitute for my beloved Cottage Living.
