I am glad to see you saved the old floor in the kitchen. We just did that in our kitchen renovation (more like gut and start over, really); the original 1930 white oak floors had been covered with vinyl tiles since the mid '60s so that helped keep the wood in good condition, thankfully. It is not perfect but we are very happy to have been able to keep something that was original to the kitchen. I very much love what you did with yours, ours is very small too, only 110 sq. ft. so it was a challenge to create a very functional place and recreate what the kitchen would have been like when the house was new in 1930: white shaker style cabinets with inset doors, cup The bin pulls, soapstone counters, open shelving like yours, in fact your photos were very inspiring to us in developing our concept of cabinet design and placement, thank you very much Robert.

What is the thickness of the marble, and did it have a laminated edge, or just a clean cut end without anything added/laminated on?
