We just moved into this house a few months ago and I'd like to get started on a new design. I'm not a big fan of the brick fireplace, and we're also stuck on a color scheme. The one thing that will definitely change is that the long brown couch against the wall will soon be a dark tan/camel leather couch.

I wold love to minimize the size of the fireplace, but for now, I think we might paint it white and give it a new, more modern mantle. Personally, I wanted to paint the walls a dark blue, as I think that looks good against the camel colored couch, and buy a longer media console for the TV to put agains that wall. The smaller two seat couch would come out and be replaced with a single, comfy chair.

This room also extends into the kitchen, so I would have to paint the walls in the kitchen the same dark blue (we have white cabinets, and a white backsplash, so I think this would actually look good). However, my wife is absolutely against the idea because she thinks the kitchen would be too dark then.

Anyway, any ideas on what colors to use in the room would be helpful (we will also be getting more recessed lighting to brighten the room). The most important thing is that the color match the camel couch and would look good in a otherwise white kitchen.
