My husband and I purchased our first home with the hopes of converting everything from electric to gas. The first step was having gas run to our house. Our second step is to install a gas fireplace insert and replace our old wood burning fireplace. Hopefully we will be better able to heat our home in the winter this way, vs relying on wall heaters that are expensive and don't quite get the job done.

Ideally, I would like the next step to be converting our electric range to a gas range, as I cook a great deal and find electric cooktops so frustrating. Has anyone had experience doing this in a house that was not originally built with any gas hookups? Is it expensive? Very labor intensive?
