Need help decorating newer home with lots of oak!

Please give me some advice on decorating a newer home with tons of yellow stained oak trim, doors, cabinets, etc. I don't want to paint anything white because it will be too much time & money. I'll take any other suggestions you can give to help me make it more contemporary. Thanks!

Do you have any furniture to work with already?What color are the walls? Are the floors oak or carpet?

A stain or paint would need to be applied to the yellow stained oak in order to see any visual difference.

One tip is when you have a lot of honey oak and/or yellow tones, try sticking with cool colors when looking at throw rugs, accent pieces, and furniture. This will create a nice contrast and help to offset the warmth of the yellow tones.

I do have darker wood furniture to work with and the walls are primarily maize colored. So while the paint is beautiful, there's not too much contrast. I like the idea of adding cool colors!

And the floors are hardwood honey oak as well. Very neutral.
