Please help; I need some suggestions on my formal dining room.

We plan to get hardwood flooring in this area of the house, and it will be a medium-dark wood that's more red than yellow/orange. The arch doorway confuses me.. I don't know whether to keep symmetry or not. I don't want it to be too safe/boring. Also, I do prefer conservative decorations but would love to change out the fixture for something truly beautiful. I do have a budget though, so nothing too fancy. Also, I'm thinking light curtains (ivory like the seats) with a pattern on them. I will pick out a rug after we change the floors. Something to think about on the walls: our electrician put our thermostat too far over on the wall so it limits what I can put there.
