Your picture has added a yellow tinge to the room - which gives it a GREAT atmosphere. You seem to feel that the brown is not working, your instincts are probably right. But we cannot honestly help you without a better, more true, picture of the room colours.

There are more furnitures with dark Brown. Belong to the living room, but both spaces, are connected visually.
