1. i would ask your architect for some alternate siding designs, as well as the railings and door designs.
2. on a piece of paper, make a list of adjectives of what "modern edge" means to you. the answers to all of your design questions will be there.
3. on your attachments, your architect shows modern style doors - full lite window glass. the Craftsman style doors drawn later detract from the Modernism - perhaps consider solid doors with no panels, or some of the Mid Century Modern style doors with geometric windows.
4. the railings are not necessary for the look of the house, but if you want or need them for safety, or due to the height of the porch, go simple. a glass panel with single horizontal handrail would be great. or some type of solid painted panel instead of glass - perhaps with some detail cut-outs reflecting the separate siding patterns. any extra vertical posts could be identical to the columns shown, just shortened to handrail height. use the diagonal post at the end of the stairway.
5. i am really not sure what the large rectangle partially blocking the window is.
6. enhance or focus on one thing - the front entry. everything else should be secondary. this refers to detailing, colors, and trim.
7. this is a small house. it has a nice, human, cottage scale to it. it doesn't have to try hard to look good already. it just needs a little tweaking.
