It's plastic and wood fibers with a picture of wood. It hates moisture, but a dry climate should be fine. The temp variation would be the most concerning factor as all materials expand in the heat and contract in the cold. Tile would be your best choice if you don't plan on keeping the home climate controlled during your absence.

It's in homes all over the Rim where temps go from freezing to 90 or so, and in the valley with 100+ temps without problems.
