I would withhold any remaining payment if you can, until the work is done completely and to your satisfaction. If it's beyond that you may have to take legal action. I have had numerous jobs done by contractors in my home & yard, after the first job (kitchen) the work was beyond subpar I quickly learned to get everything in a binding written contract and draw out w/ measurements of what said expectations would be. I also had included in the contract if the work was not done to specs of contract because of oversight by contractor then they would have to fix problem on their dime, but if is a change order via homeowner you pay for changes. I have found this has eliminated about 80% of contractors that were not serious and could back up their work- end result I have a contractor and other home services that I can turn to and recommend to others. I know reno's can be few and far between but really "interviewing" them can make a huge difference. Hope the tile problem gets resolved- it's your home and should be exactly how you'd like it.
