Another pic as you walk in the front door. First floor and stairs will be stained the same as the other floors.

I prefer a darker version of your flooring. If you stain your front door rather than painting it, I would match the stain from the stairway. Or you can paint them white with the railing stained as in this photo

I would stain the full newel posts.

The floor looks much darker in person. I am concerned about stained wood overload. I can do the newels last, then I can see how dark it will be in the foyer before actually making my decision.

Love the color contrast...any plan on poly over top of stain?

This is the finished product (stain wise). We want the house to look 100+ years old and a poly would make it look too new.

It does have a light sheen in person, but not very much.

Mine is 100+...just for comparison.

Revere Pewter is one of the colors we are considering, but it looks too taupe on our walls. It is the triangle test spot on the wall next to the stairs. I wanted something with a little more grey in it. Classic Grey from BM is nice, but might be too light for the 2-story foyer. Trying to keep our color pallet from a historical collection. Most likely the trim will be White Dove.

We went with Revere Pewter in the foyer. We decided to use the Matte finish in the BM Aura line, the trim is White Dove. Just not painted in this pic yet.
