Instead of having a plant in every corner it might look better to group them all together. Or add one much bigger plant.

You don't need to worry about decorating the top of the wall. If you get the sofa and art over it no need to go high up.

I agree with leelee about moving the furniture 90 degrees to the left and relocating the curio.

How about creating a hallway of sorts by putting the sofa opposite the large wall and a sofa table behind it. Put the chairs against the large blank wall angled towards each other and the sofa. Put a table between them and then you can put a lamp on it (I see you have a socket near there). Put the large piece of art on the wall behind and between the two chairs. Then a nice large square rug in the entry way and a second large rectangular rug for the living area. You might even have room for two low ottomans as a coffee table and extra seating. The curio might work if you put it against the window wall.

I don't think you should have the back of the sofa facing the dining area, and the sofa should not block the entrance to the room from the foyer. Select rug, credenza, some round coffee and accent tables, a few lamps and a large piece of art over the credenza if there will not be a TV in this room.

I agree with everyone that the curio needs to go elsewhere because it throws off the balance of the room. Your chairs seem to be an odd color; that and their pattern make finding a rug difficult. You're going to have to stay in the warm tones of gray and probably stay pretty plain on the pattern.

This angle shoes how tall ceilings are. Very tall room. May move curio. (Need to find another corner where it will fit properly. )

You could also add curtains to lower the ceiling.

I like the curtains. That does lower the ceiling quite a bit. What color? Grey or pattern? Black rods?

If you get grommet curtains, get a rod that matches the grommets. I'd probably get brushed nickel (HomeGoods has the best prices). The panels that I posted are from Target. Here's an option that keeps your curio and uses your existing mirror:

Thanks for showing what the sofa looks like on the big wall. That really opens up the room. A room should invite you to come in and not have the entrances blocked by large furniture. What do you think?

The curio has got to go. The sofa needs to be centered on the wall and the cabinet is not allowing that.

Since you already have a mirror in that space you don't need another. Art over the sofa will pull the entire room together.

For the record, my last suggestion was not to add another mirror to the room. I was suggesting that you move your existing mirror.

We also have a large Monet garden print that is framed - but not sure how that would look on the wall. Can you add that to see? It has a gold ornate frame currently (professionally framed years ago, so I would either leave that or paint it if needed).

I agree that the curio should go elsewhere. It's a hard piece to find a place for because it's a corner curio. Perhaps in my master bedroom corner by the window...

Or could put curio in dining room near entry to kitchen (space may be big enough there) and move current art to large wall in DR.

Here's your shag rug with the Monet in a gold frame. I find the frame discordant with your furniture and the rug a little meh.

The lower border of the wall trim is 87" long.

So this print would fill almost entirely inside (see post it marks I made for bottom aspect of print) and up past where I could reach for upper post it on wall... It'd be HUGE!

Maybe the 54" size. Here is the post it markings for that size...

My calculations tell me you can go about 58 - 66", but 54" looks about right.

54" is smaller than you figured. Will that be too small or just right for our wall? My worry is if we ever move... Something enormous wouldn't fit anywhere else. That's our problem with old art pieces from other houses we've lived in.

As far as rugs go, I'm partial to something that will stay soft and a little plush while still allowing for vacuuming.

With that last posted print - do you think it's too gold/yellow to go with the gray/blue of the couch and chairs? Now that the couch/chairs have been in the light of my room, I'm noticing how blue the undertones are in the couch. So whatever rug/print I select needs to not clash.
