Like this, adding a couple more 2-3 more feet to kitchen and family room in back with windows into courtyard. However, this would have master expansion up top and maybe baby room? Want to move baby room from center of house on first floor. Maybe office just goes into garage if we can get to attach and works to leave where it is?

Like the idea of extending kitchen out and adding main living room/rec room out and turning current entry/living room into mudroom and potential office/large closet? Or above kitchen/new living room, adding bedroom/office/bathroom. And then connecting to garage in back with patio, doing work to garage to make work space/game room and mother in law suite with office.
3rd floor ideas...I like the idea of 3rd story only because with house next door and the potential for another big one on the other....Until we know more about what they are going to do with that property, makes it hard to decide what's best here. Just dont want to be sandwiched in between the 2 biggies.
