Way to get the sitting area looking on the yard that we want and have a place off the kitchen where we can sit for coffee, etc. Wouldn't want quite this design -- bench doesn't look comfortable -- but the bump-out, set-off area is appealing.

I like the overall look of the room. Bright but not sterile. Not overly modern or cottagey. I like the herringbone large subway tiles, the long windows with slatted blinds. The full wall pantry cabinets look clean and make the room feel open.

I like all those drawers in the room divider. Some could be fake flat drawers and really be deep drawers. I like the library catalogue style drawer handles too. It could be nice to have labels -- easier for visitors to lend a hand or old minds to remember where things belong.

I like the idea of a food pantry with a countertop for small appliances so that you could use the appliances right in the pantry if you want and not have them cluttering the kitchen counter.

Practical mix of open and closed upper cabinets for a more open look. I also like the placement of the microwave -- at least the concept. The door will open the wrong way, assuming that there is a wall o the right.

Could be really handy under a counter where there is a microwave if the microwave is in a wall without a handy place to quickly set a hot dish. Could also be good for setting dishes as you prepare to "plate" dinner from the stove.

Placement of compost bin under chopping area - less mess getting it into the bin. But it would need to be something with a snug lid to avoid animals, smells and fruit flies.

Recyling -- drawer for supplies, flat space for paper, separate pullouts for other types of recyling. As long as the pullouts are for recyling and not food disposal, having handles works. I wouldn't want to always use a hand to open the garbage. A couple of people recommended the bump and open style cabinets for that.
