General Thoughts About Color In House

Hallway is dark, so go with it, and use a very intense dark color (high gloss) in the hallway, then have the rooms around it be mostly lighter, with the dark color picked up here and there. You could do red, or a very dark grayish-green, or even a dark evergreen (bringing in the outside). Question then is: what to do about the stairway color?
