Aesthetics (EXCEPT the backsplash)... imagine this with a set of light-colored, brick-shaped tiles accented by a deep red line. I like the combination of the dark stone-looking countertop, exposed concrete pillar, wood, and glass.

Looks like a pretty good use of space for a small kitchen. Has (just) enough counter top space for prep...cabinet and drawer space perhaps limited. Would be better with pot rack.
