Function matters, especially when it comes to storage. Renovating homeowners expressed both design-related priorities for their renovated kitchens and functional ones. A top functional priority, cited by 63 percent of renovators, was having a kitchen in which it’s easy to store and find items. Making the list for a minority of respondents (21 percent) was a kitchen that’s easy for multiple cooks to work in.People like to corral their cookie sheets. Given that storage was a priority for so many, it isn’t surprising that many of those who upgraded their cabinets chose to include built-in storage. The most popular choices were pullout waste or recycling cabinets (67 percent), followed by cookie sheet or tray organizers (55 percent) and deep-drawer organizers (45 percent).Find pantry and cabinet organizers
2. Jewel tones. Speaking of dark colors, after so many years of white kitchens being the dominant look, we’re definitely finding that more and more people are now choosing to use rich, deep hues, with jewel tones being particularly popular.Classic jewel tones like amethyst, sapphire and emerald introduce an unmissable dose of color to shake up the all-white mold. They feel sophisticated and timelessly luxurious, making them a safer long-term choice than, say, bright orange or trendy pink.Find a professional cabinet maker
1. Embossed fronts. While we might think of modern style cabinets as having minimalist flat-front doors and drawers, many companies now are producing fun versions with embossed patterns, adding a sense of texture and personality while still maintaining a modern sensibility.

Kitchen. The play on large rectilinear forms and negative space continues in the kitchen, particularly on the island. The range backsplash is oil-flamed basalt, and the countertops are Taj Mahal quartz.Check out the table on the left side of this photo, which extends outdoors. Consider the three-center concept flexible, and use it as a starting point to organize your kitchen depending on how you plan to use it. For example, you may want to have a spot in the kitchen for young children to safely contribute, or you may set up your space to suit multiple cooks. The key is to organize items so that they are placed in an obvious location and can be easily accessed for the coordinating activity.Cabinets 101: How to Get the Storage You Want
Spice storage, pots and pans, and cooking utensils placed immediately around cooking equipment ensure convenient and intuitive access to the tools and staples you need in meal preparation. Personal preference determines whether you want to place these items in upper shelves or cabinets, as in the previous photo, or in drawers and pullout cabinets that are below eye level, as shown here. Either can work, so decide what is best for you and conforms to your design aesthetic.Find cabinet pros in your area
When organizing your kitchen, look for ways to store items related to each other, such as mugs near the coffee station, as shown here.
Yes!Most people store drinking glasses in wall cabinets near the sink and dishwasher, which works well, but drawers designed to hold glassware offer another solution and can make access more convenient. In any case, maintain a location convenient to the sink and dishwasher for your glassware and everyday dishes.
2. The Sink Center The sink center should be between the refrigerator and the range center, or cooking area, for maximum efficiency. Since sinks get the most use and traffic of any spot in the kitchen, centrally located sinks and dishwashers work best. Plan to have the most uncluttered countertop space in the sink center. The area in and around sinks is used for food-preparation tasks involving cleaning and cutting, as well as washing and cleaning up after meals. Place trash and recycling containers strategically so that tidy disposal happens effortlessly.Storage at sink centers includes places for everyday flatware, dishes and glassware, as well as activities involving waste management, dishtowel placement and storage, cleaning supplies, polishing and drying.
