Great use of a small space! Who says you have to have larger bedrooms. It does say in the article that the child used another room to play in. If your bedroom is mainly used for sleeping, it does not need to be large. The shape of the bed presented some problems. McClendon and her client worried about the son's potentially slipping into the gap between the bed and the window. They also wanted to access storage underneath the bed easily. The custom L-shaped headboard solved both problems. The short headboard against the window attaches to the bed itself, but the longer headboard attaches to the wall with bolts and to the bed with Velcro straps. Mom can unhook the Velcro and pull the bed out on its wheels to access the storage underneath.
This might be a way to open up a kitchen that is closed off but still be able to close it back up.
I like this idea. I think it might also be nice to have a wood door with translucent glass so it might be a little more traditional or transitional in style. To me this look is more contemporary or modern.
I like this book shelf. I wonder if you could make one like this pretty easily from wood?
Great Idea because if you move you can either put them together or put them in different rooms if needed. Simple shelving units in multiples. You don't need to spend an arm and a leg on shelving unless you want to — just buy multiples of basic bookcases and line them up side by side for a custom look. You can personalize your shelves by adding a coat of color or patterned paper to the back wall, or by gluing grosgrain ribbon trim across the shelf fronts.
Great idea to reuse cabinets and misc. wood for storage.
I would love to have a wall of storage in the kitchen like this. The glass at the top for display is like the cherry on the top of ice cream.
