With regards to this comment by Green Designs and its affiliates, a project budget was not originally discussed; however, a redesign of an existing Kitchen Floor Plan was. In most cases customers will retain our services for a redesign of a existing Kitchen and/or bath floor plan and because many clients are happy with the plan(s) created for them, they will request an additional quote for us to do the work. On this particular design plan project, we met the couple who expressed they had been designing their own kitchen remodel several months before our meeting. We consulted several times with the client who wanted a open concept Kitchen as they had while living in another state; however, their existing floor plan would not allow for this. The client also wanted a sink in the island, which the existing plumbing would have to be relocated.. Three design options were provided, they selected one, approved and contracted our services for Kitchen Design Plans. The selected plan was revised to meet their needs and wants and approved. Next, Sherry assisted with material selections, picked them up and took them to the their home at no charge. This is when the client requested an estimate for custom cabinets, tear-out, plumbing, millwork, electrical, and appliance installation to bid out. The design team met for a site inspection and the estimate was completed and forwarded. The client elected to use their personal affiliates and friends and then entered into a contractual agreement with their local home improvement store for their cabinet, countertop and other material installation. Then a few days later, the couple called Sherry out of concern that the local home improvement store she contracted with could not provide the same cabinets in the design and forward a copy of the plans from the local home improvement store. It was also discovered by the designer that the home improvement store employee's measurements were incorrect compared to the original design plans for access space, work triangle, plumbing and electrical location. In fact, they were 3-4 inches off the original floor plan's measurements which were measured 3-4 times by the BGSKB design team compared to the home improvement store's one-time measurement. This was immediately brought to the client's attention. The client called Sherry again and asked if she could speak with the home improvement employee and out of true concern, this designer spoke to the specialist who denied the incorrect measurements. The couple was advised to measure the distances, at which time, they realized the employee's measurements were incorrect and it was suggested that they contact the company with their concerns. The original approved floor plan was also modified by the employee. A few weeks later, the couple called us regarding performing construction; however, after careful consideration, due to the potential for a conflict of interest with a third party whom the couple contracted with, the design team did not enter into an installation contractual agreement for this simple fact alone. We even suggested they reach out to the home improvement company for any direction to contacting their affiliates or sub-contractors. Again, the only contract between this client and the designer was for Design Plans Only! Our company commends this designer's decision for seeing forthcoming company liability issues. Sherry is one of the most empathetic, considerate and heartfelt designers we have, Her wiliness to go above and beyond to help this couple is to be commended. It is very unfortunate that Green Designs who is and its affiliates was not told the truth by this client or attempt to contact the designer to gather the facts before making the above comments. This is what we call professional courtesy. Green Designs, who has never established a working relationship and is not a colleague with BGSKB its designer (s) or it's design team should have given more respect to the design trade and the Kitchen & Bath Design Industry.
