We were thoroughly impressed with the work of Olivia Botrie of Barbara Purdy Design on the recent renovation of our home. From initial planning meetings to the date we moved in, Olivia took our aesthetic and lifestyle into consideration and helped us create our dream home. She was capable, professional and organized. Olivia was very clear on both the scope of work (designing a kitchen, bathroom, and living space) and on the project budget, working with us and our contractor to keep to our (tight!) timelines. She worked well with our contractor, and the pair were clear and in touch about any alterations and modifications that would need to be made during the construction phase. Olivia was very easy to communicate with and kept us informed on both progress as well as any decisions or changes that needed to be made. We so enjoyed working with Olivia and are in love with our home as a result. We have nothing but praise for her work and are happy to recommend her to others.

I have had the pleasure of working with designer Olivia Botrie, co-founder of Barbara Purdy Design on three separate projects, ranging in scope from the selection and purchase of a sofa to the design, construction and finishings of the basement of our home. In every instance she is respectful of our budget, honest about what we can achieve within our budget, super interested and open to our suggestions – a big deal to myself, as a wanna be designer - , honest when our suggestions are non-sensical, and a master of knowing where to invest in custom made and when to use Ikea. In our most recent project, a kitchen “facelift” (i.e. re-purposing as much as possible), she used my suggestion for dark blue lower cabinets as a jumping off point and built a scheme around that. She has also consistently found excellent, trades, who not only pay attention to detail, but are great with my kids – something that for me is a deal breaker.

I am a physician practicing in the Toronto area. Barb took on the task of redoing my office and waiting room. This included new color scheme, flooring, window treatments, furniture and carpets. Barb provided excellent service and attention to detail. She worked hard and diligently on a project that i know for her is not as big as she usually takes on. Nevertheless she provided what seemed to be her full attention to this job. Barbara Purdy and Olivia Botrie took on a very ambitious project when they agreed to do our house. It started with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Working within the existing footprint of the home, they came up with amazing ideas on how to reconfigure the layout and space so it would work more effectively for our family with 3 boys and a dog. In the end, we have an open concept family room kitchen, 4 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, 3 gas fireplaces and a massive dining room to accommodate large crowds. It's a great house for entertaining and a wonderful house to cozy up with just the family. I love their design sensibility. We went for a modern rustic look and the end result is a warm, practical and BEAUTIFUL home that I still appreciate every day as my dream home. I'm still pinching myself that i get to live in it. Barbara and Olivia were a dream to work with. They are collaborative, they make smart choices, they listen, and they have amazing taste. i thought they were so good that my mom and brother also worked with Barbara Purdy Design. i would work with them again in a heartbeat.

When doing any home renovation you need a project lead in your corner. Someone who understands the process and can trnslate your wants and needs into an amazing reality. My advice to anyone embarking on a large scale home reno is to do your research and get the right team on board that is vested in your satisfaction. Barbara Purdy Design Inc cares about their clients and the success of every project they work on. They truly are experts in their field who understand the demands on clients time and make the process fun and exciting. Barb and Olivia are a dynamic team!
