Ignacio Salas-Humara Architect LLC

Wow. We purchased an old Feed Store & seed processing plant, built in the 1930's. Highlights of this structure include a seed/grain silo, with intact grain conveyor belt rising 35 feet to the roof, an industrial seed/grain scale (still functional), and a beautiful array of long leaf pine rafters . Ignacio was the first person we thought of when we envisioned a conversion of this structure to a residential loft- we were familiar with his work from publications/awards, and from several of his projects that we had been fortunate to tour. From his first, initial rough sketch, he had us hooked. It's hard to adequately summarize Ignacio's superb performance on our project in limited text space, but his creativity and design solutions, and attention to custom detail were well beyond that we could have hoped for. In addition, Ignacio was a real pleasure to work with - he treated our "design" suggestions with respect & attention and we always felt comfortable discussing plan options, or changes. (I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that we had a very talented builder whose knowledge, oversight, and commitment to excellence was off the charts). There are many measures of a custom project's success - quality, functionality, value, all of which I'm very proud of. However, maybe the best indicator of a project's design success is the "wow" we feel when we open the front door to our completed industrial loft. Thanks Ignacio.

Ignacio has been a joy to work with, he is truly artist. Mine is a small house, full of beautiful detail from the lovely butterfuly roof that includes a cricket to divert the majority of rainfall to a water catchment tank, the clerestory windows around the entire house to the unique wall finish and use of reglets. Bought an old lake cottage that had been added onto a few times and hired Ignacio to plan the remodel. We're updating and adding an additional 400 square feet. We worked with Ignacio Salas-Humara almost 9 yrs ago as a consultant when we were adding to our home built in 1856. We wanted to update our home and keep the integrity. Ignacio's sensitivity and guidance with my husband and I was tremendously successful. Recently, we decided to sell our home and bought a beautiful hill country property with a very steep slope to build on. We called on Ignacio's brilliance and he designed the perfect plan for this particularly difficult piece of land that perfectly fit all our expectations and more.

When looking for an architect to revamp our drab midcentury modern home we were drawn to Ignacio because of the versatility of his designs. Now having worked with Ignacio I understand that versatility to be a result of both his creativity and his communication. Ignacio listens and distills the essence of a project.
