We hired Blue Sound to do a major remodel that entailed rebuilding a two-story home on the original 1940's foundation. Ben and the Blue Sound team excelled at communication, always providing clear and thoughtful responses to questions and concerns. Our remodel happened during a building boom, and so keeping subcontractors, timelines and budget in line was extremely challenging, but our PM and LC did a very good job balancing the time/cost/quality triangle. Their integrity, pride of craftsmanship, and attention to detail made for an excellent build experience and a home that we will enjoy for many years.

When my wife and I were looking for a contractor to handle the first project for our 1901 Capitol Hill home, we wanted to find a partner who would care for it as if it were their own. Blue Sound initially stood out for us in the level of effort they made to understand us and our goals and also in the confidence we felt in their ability to achieve them. On Time and Under Budget. Until now, I'd never been able to describe a remodel in this way. We had everything selected, designed fully and drawn for our project. Blue Sound's team was able to provide an accurate estimate through an initial Rough Order of Magnitude pricing and then a further refined timeline and exact budget once our client was signed on. The superintendent was organized and able to read our drawings and reference necessary details. I knew that the project was going well when the designer I had assigned to this project said "I wish all of our remodels could be this easy" during one of our check-ins. We're happy with the process and the outcome and so is our client.

When we decided to remodel our 1905 bungalow we knew it would take a talented team to give our home the love it needed. After interviewing several contractors, we knew Blue Sound was the right fit. Ben and his team are courteous, knowledgeable, honest, transparent, respectful, realistic, and so incredibly kind. They possess qualities we never heard attributed to any contractor from our circle of family and friends who have remodeled their homes. In fact, all we ever heard were horror stories. We still marvel at the easy and enjoyable experience we had with BSC. We knew going in that having an old house meant unexpected situations were inevitable and sure enough, we had walls within walls, layers and layers of wall paper and a few rooms so crooked we didn't think anything short of tearing the whole place down would make them "right" again. So, our demo and framing budget increased but Ben, the owner, and Jason, our PM, went above and beyond to help us trim the fat elsewhere - making better deals with subs, finding comparable yet less expensive materials than ones we had originally selected - without taking away from our vision of what we wanted our home to be. As for those crooked walls, JC, our lead carpenter, is the MacGyver of the carpentry world. This man is a magician when it comes to working with old homes. The two big questions we are asked by people just beginning their remodel journey regard price and schedule. We came in on budget and moved in just before Christmas as we requested. While we can't recommend BSC enough, we also tell these people that you are entering a relationship with your contractor and with any relationship, it's a two way street. Do your due diligence. Contractors are not mind readers. We also highly recommend having a realistic, capable architect who can keep you on track. We worked with Nicole Taylor at Make Design Studio. She's amazing - be sure to check out our review. We love our home. People are amazed when they see the transformation. It was our dream that Blue Sound made into a reality. We had a great experience with Ben and his crew. They did a complete remodel of our kitchen. It turned out beautifully. One aspect of working with Blue Sound that I really appreciate is the communication and planning. They did an excellent job of putting a time line together, and keeping me apprised of progress. We have an older house, and when unexpected things turned up, we were promptly notified and possible options were discussed. They were professional and delightful to work with. It has been said already, but it is really true of BSC; they are honest and professional - a company with true integrity. When I describe our experience to others, they don't believe a remodel experience can be so easy and pleasant. With BSC it is. It is common to feel a sense of gratification when finishing a remodel project, but wanting to do it all over again is unusual. BSC helped us with a planned and an unexpected remodel. The team is courteous, professional, helpful, and very experienced. The outcomes are beautiful outcomes and their attention to detail is very apparent. Occasionally a little late on timelines. but overall well worth the wait.

I have been very happy working with Blue Sound Construction. Ben (owner) is very customer service oriented, honest and trustworthy. He has hired a crew that has a solid skill set and they do high end construction. When I first met Ben, he was one of three companies that I interviewed and his bid was the middle one. The bid was well organized and as in any remodel, there were surprises along the way that were dealt with as swiftly as possible and they stayed on top of any changes regarding the budget. Our first phase with BSC was three bathroom remodels, moving a laundry room to the basement and adding a new bedroom on the main level. We lived in the house while all this was being done and they were very respectful working around us and always kept the jobsite very clean at the end of each workday.
