Halpert Construction

Halpert construction I selected MHC, Mark Halpert construction, as my contractor for a 1920s rehab and remodel of a house. For this project, I interviewed 7 highly rated local contractors. Only 2 of those would even attempt to utilize and remodel using the existing plaster and woodwork that existed in the house, old school construction, and attention to detail. One of my goals in my retro-mod of this house was to maintain its character and old-school charm. The electrical system was 1920s tube & knob wiring. The plumbing was galvanized supply and a cast iron sewer, all of which had to be replaced. In the process, we remodeled the house to suit our tastes and desires. This is where MHC shined. Mark listened to and assisted us with what we wanted. He communicated with us daily and provided weekly updates on where the project was encountering problems and provided solutions to those challenges aligned with our desires and wishes. These updates and meetings we’re directly with mark himself and not an assistant or project manager. He visited the job site daily working with his team. I have been involved in six major construction and remodel projects, and none of them were an exact science. Based on the structure of the house, the availability and cost of the materials. Original blueprints, any plans have to change based on the reality of the project. MHC adapted his quote to these changes, and the project finished on time and successfully. I have highly recommended him to several of my friends and family for their projects, and I would recommend him to you as well.

Originally, Mark and his crew worked on my upstairs bathroom and kitchen. The bathroom looks beautiful and the kitchen looks much more spacious. They also replaced the flooring in one of the bathrooms downstairs. I was so pleased with the results, I had my downstairs bathroom remodeled. It was a pleasure working with Mark and his crew. Whenever I had a concern, Mark and his team made sure to take care of it. My son and daughter-in-law were so impressed with the results, they wanted Mark to work on their home, but they live outside his service area.

We hired Mark to redo our kitchen, bathroom, flooring and painting. We had so many mistakes that we had to argue back and forth with until he took accountability. His work was sub standard and took multiple ‘fixes’. It was clear he didn’t care about our home or how the project came out. Very poor communication as well.
