My name is Nick Vilione and I've had the pleasure of working with JMB Architects throughout the design process of our new home in Elmhurst. John has made an otherwise stressful process very enjoyable. John and his firm are extremely easy to work with and are very accommodating and flexible. They are an integral part of the home design process, especially when many architectural features are able to be fully customized. From a technical perspective, JMB's work is detail-oriented, accurate, and polished. They produce architectural home designs that incorporate a variety of custom requirements while also being extremely knowledgeable of applicable local and national residential building codes. On a personal level, JMB is personable and approachable, and does a very nice job communicating with their clients throughout the home design process. Thanks for everything!

If you’re building a home in Elmhurst or any surrounding area, stop Googling and just call JMB. We threw every wild idea we had at them — from a Costco door in the pantry from our garage to rethinking the entire layout. They handled it all with grace, humor, and alarming levels of patience. The entire team at JMB is not only wildly talented, they’re also responsive. When we hit unexpected bumps, they were on it before we even finished panicking. And if you’ve ever dealt with permits and city approvals, you know that working with the building department can be... an adventure. But with JMB? Smooth sailing. They know the process inside and out and have great relationships with everyone involved. They embraced all our last-minute design changes, weird requests, and "wouldn’t it be cool if..." moments without blinking an eye. They made us feel like our quirks were part of the creative process, not a problem to solve — and that’s rare. Bottom line: If you want architects who are creative, responsive, easy to work with, and have the magical ability to keep both clients and the city happy, JMB is the firm you need.

We were recommended to John Anstadt from a friend. We met with 3 firms and knew John was the right choice. We worked with John and Jim and couldn't be happier. We are renovating and adding an addition onto a split level home and were blown away by the results. They had wonderful ideas we never would have thought of. We felt like a priority throughout the process and highly recommend using them!

I worked closely with John B to design our residence in Elmhurst. He came highly recommended and certainly met and exceeded our expectations. We were nervous because we were on a very tight timeline but John was very accommodating and responsive, making sure that we finished the design quickly and accurately. Anyone who has built a custom home knows that it is a difficult task to take someone’s vision and draw it accurately on a piece of paper and John handled that very efficiently taking time to explain the different steps along the way. His experience and creativity were surpassed only by his professionalism, all of which were on full display during the entire process. We would definitely recommend him and his team to anyone looking for a quality architect.

You should use JMB Architect, and you should request John Anstadt when you do. We could not be more pleased with the company, people, process, and most importantly the plans. John took what we thought were perfect plans (that we had designed) and incorporated all our best ideas into a design that was, honestly, much better. John’s design process was engaging and detailed, with free hand sketch drawings on the spot, and a quick turn around to actual plans in hand. Every meeting he listened to our requests, incorporated our ideas, and when he pushed back, he explained why in professional manner that left us confident we had made the right choice. John was also very thoughtful with keeping us on budget with our design and provided us with estimates for his work that were dead on. In addition, he has been extremely responsive throughout the project, including during the permitting process. It has been, and continues to be, a pleasure working with John and JMB Architect.

My husband and I used JMB Architects to design our new dream home and worked very closely with John B and his team John A and Kurt. From the start they did a phenomenal job helping create a functional and beautiful space, asking for a detailed wish list and pictures we previously found on Houzz to help understand our individual style and incorporate all our wishes into the design. John A and his team were extremely responsive and were efficient in providing updated plans based on our comments. They were willing to meet in person based on our schedule, willing to jump on a quick call or communicate via e-mail. Furthermore the JMB team proved to be extremely knowledgeable of the city code and were wonderful working with us to determine appropriate roof pitches, designing to minimize structural costs where possible, and working closely with the civil engineer. John A also has a great sense of design and was an extremely valuable resource to have throughout this process. We had so much fun! A sincere thank you to the JMB Team!

It is with much enthusiasm that I am writing to recommend JMB Architects. John was the architect of our home in Elmhurst. We also further utilized his expertise for color rendering services for our home exterior. First and foremost, John is clearly an incredible architect. The homes he designs are stunning, and his floorplans are so thoughtful and functional. We met with him several times during the process and his knowledge and creativity was so impressive. In addition to the art and science of home architecture, John also has extensive knowledge in other areas of building which were extremely helpful when building a home (e.g., costs, home value, city codes). In addition to being an expert in his field, he was also able to effectively communicate complex ideas, challenges, recommendations and solutions to us in ways that we could understand. He treated us like contributing members of his team when working on our home, which we found to be so unique and professional. Instead of telling us we couldn’t do something, he came up with workable and creative ways to achieve what we were looking for. We also felt that John was very honest with us regarding our choices, offering his opinion and recommendation yet respecting our preferences and letting us have the final say. Despite how stressed we were about building, customizing and buying a new home, John made the process so fun and manageable! We enjoyed our meetings with him and felt like he truly cared that we were happy with our home. He was so patient with us and yet so efficient whenever we asked him for a change. John and team were an incredible partner in our new construction project. They were responsive, creative and collaborative. We wanted a unique, functional, stylish home and JMB was able to go above and beyond our expectations to design an amazing house that met all our needs. There's not enough I can say about how incredibly thoughtful the team was throughout the process. They listened to every idea and provided excellent ideas and perspective. The process was fun and low-stress. The team is creative and brilliant but down to earth. I'd recommend them to anyone.

John listened very well, and seemed to "get" our ideas and intent. Was very responsive and creative in design to maximize our space in the most cost effective way. Worked well with out builder timely turn around and was not afraid to design on the fly - throwing things out to see what we thought of them - and many were adapted into our plans. Very pleased with John and his team.
