I've engaged them on numerous projects ranging from Single-Family Detached homes, Single-Family Attached homes and a 2 over 2 condo project. MGA consistently delivers high-quality construction drawings that are accurate, on-budget, and always on time in addition to a willingness to go above and beyond the scope of work to ensure that the highest quality of service is provided to me, the client. We've worked with Mangan Group Architects -- John and his terrific team -- on both commercial and residential projects. They've included a restaurant, retail and office space renovations and complete renovations on three primary residences and a brand new recreational residence. One of these was an historic waterfront manor home on the Bay. This and the previous renovated house in Bethesda were recruited for local house tours. Every project has been a true collaboration with the Mangan team.

We've been working with Mangan Group since about 2012, but they first used our insulation panels in 2013. It has always been a pleasure! We have completed several projects with John and his team at Mangan Group Architects over the past 5 years and always are pleased with their work. We consider them a “go to” design-build partner and top recommendation for many reasons. While they are certainly technically skilled architects what we feel really sets them apart from other firms that we have worked with is their communication and visualization skills. One of the most important skills of an architect is listening closely to the homeowner’s needs and goals in order to design a project that is not only beautiful but meets all the client’s requirements including space, timeline, budget, finishes and style and this is where we feel MGA excels. They don’t just draw beautiful buildings they collaborate closely with the whole team to make sure the projects are deliverable and the best solution to meet all of the owner’s goals. A key to making the process so approachable both from a homeowner and contractors perspective is their extensive use of BIM and 3D modeling as it allows clients to visualize the design and contractors to see potential problems prior to construction and resolve them. This makes the design process so much more efficient and clear when a client ask a question like, “Will I be able to see into the family room from the kitchen sink?” and they can pull up that exact view on the computer and walk the owners through what the space looks and feels like. In many ways MGA is a great marriage of traditional architecture skills and modern design technology which is of great benefit to their contractors and homeowners. I have had the privilege to work with " Mangan Group Architects" on a number of residential projects as an outside professional and have been quite impressed with their creative approach and professionalism! Their expertise From the preliminary drawings to the beautiful color renderings of the rooms all the way to the completion of the project is outstanding. I hired Mangan Group to design a kitchen/dining room addition to my 1931 Tudor cottage. Like many homes of the same vintage, my home had a very small dining room, tiny galley-style kitchen, poor circulation and views/access to the backyard. Unfortunately, there was no way to expand within the existing footprint of the home so an addition was the only way to go. My primary instructions to the architect were to create warm inviting spaces that were respectful of the wonderful existing architectural features of the home. I didn't want massive square footage---I wanted spaces that would be used every day and not those that would make other rooms in the home obsolete. Mangan worked with me, my interior designer & landscape architect to create a truly seamless design. They asked countless questions and made refinements to my satisfaction. Their suggestions were practical, realistic and always expressed in a way that allowed me to make an informed decision on how to proceed. Throughout design & construction they never once exhibited the classic "architect's ego" that often accompanies talented designers. I thoroughly enjoy the new spaces and have received countless compliments from guests. The highest compliment is that virtually all my guests are completely surprised that the renovation is also an addition. The new blends in with the old that well. I have used this architecture firm for 3 major house renovations. They are a joy to work with, very collaborative and unlike most architects, design within budget!
